As I dont need them in any way now. But I want to make sure they only go to people who really need them (ie. who own the relevant fiats that were fitted with these)

The smaller aluminium one I think I got from a Millecento. The bigger shiny/chrome ones (taken from Super-Selects) are good but for some minor pitting. The aluminium SS one (with red dot) is one of its kind I came across so not sure if its original or repro.

Anyone interested please pm me, thanks.
Hope you wouldn't mind giving me one marked below, you never know I might come across one .

Re: Fiat 1100 / Premier Padmini - Parts to Stock for FUTURE!

As mentioned in another thread, here are the assorted Fiat parts with me that are ready for a good home.

The gear lever's from a '65 1100 Delight.

The round 'vents' are actually taken from 2 1100s, one being a dukkar. One has the original mesh 'lid' intact while the other has it covered with a cheap plastic dabba wedged into it!

The Parking lights seem to be "Sweet Trade"...atleast the lenses have the 'ST' logo on them.

Sorry for the back-to-back posts but was unable to attach further images in my last post!

This is a brake reservoir from a 50s dukkar fiat, a Millecento. Quite rare now.

Shyam by any chance would you have a fuel sender unit that goes into a tank for a Dukkar, mine isn't sending any reading to the fuel gauge. I am trying to get it repaired but have been unsuccessful till now. The karigars in mumbai for such things have simply vanished.

the Mole,
First of all are you sure if the sender is at fault or the meter?
To check the functionality of the meter, the meter has to show full tank as you disconnect the wire from the sender.

It is a simple DIY to check if the fuel sender is still repairable or not. All you need are 8-9, 6-7 spanners & a multimeter or a continuity tester. As I havent seen inside the trunk of a Dukkar & assuming that it arrangement is the same as in a PP, you will have to reach the wires that connect to the sender unit. With the help of multimeter check for the resistance or continuity. Still one step further you can remove the sender unit out and once try resoldering all the soldered joints inside.
It happened once in my dad's 118 that the sender did not communicate with the fuel guage. I had resoldered all the solderable joints inside the sender and the guage was back to life. Hope you can try this too before spending time & fuel and depending on an electrician.

Re: Fiat 1100 / Premier Padmini - Parts to Stock for FUTURE!

Amol,

What kind of sender unit are you having (original type Vegla make or the premier padmani type).

The difference between the two is Original has push type connector and had both signal and return/ ground wire connections. Whereas the one for Premier Padmini has stud and nut connector and has only one connection for signal wire. The unit is already grounded.

Also another difference is the fuel outlet pipe is part of the sending unit in case of original, where as for the Premier padmani one there is a seperate opening with a wire mesh filter for the fuel out let pipe.

If you have the normal Premier Padmani type you will find enough used units at the local scrapyard and you can even find a new one two.

However if this the original type, you can get the same thing repaired. The The variable resistance unit box can be opened and the broken coils can be soldered back if that is the case. Just make sure they do not short with other wires next to them. All mobile repairers have those tiny soldering irons good for this job.

Any other loose contacts can easily soldered or cleaned in case of dirt or rust formation.

Here is one picture how the original one would look like

P.S.: The original brand new fuel level sensing unit was available with a bangalore old parts dealer for a pricey sum of Rs. 1700 /-

Just a correction The two terminals on the sensing unit are both signal wires and the unit's body is grounded. One terminal is for the Fuel gauge and the send one is for the reserve light. Sorry for the confusion. I just checked my meter and my fuel sensing unit.

Sorry forgot to include these in my above post...they are front parking lights for the 1100 SELECT/SUPER-SELECT. Technically not original, made by Sweet Trade. But equally hard to find now I guess. 'dont have the lenses. One of them is broken a little at the bakelite holder.
