Its time the Tyres are changed, they are past their prime already.

Waiting for Srisha to return from Australia, once he's back, remove the tyres, treat the rims completely and put on new tyres.

Dont think i am ready to change the tyres right away, due to my overseas assignment, this will not be a daily runner for the next 2 years atleast, hence need to look at a stop gap solution.

Next 2 years Anna..

Anyways... Will look for some good set of used tyres for the time being.

BTW. We are stripping off the interiors of the car to clean up the floor and spray Anti-rust coating. The underbody will be sanded to spray the Anti-rust coating.

I am doing everything slowly, when is that you are here in town for atleast a Good week / 10 days..?

Anna, i know it must be hard on you to have been away from your prized possession since almost A YEAR

Dont worry, i will take care of this fella neatly.

Car is complete, but only for the front bumper towel rail thats pending.

NOTE: THE BUMPERS ARE FABRICATED BY USING PREMIER PADMINI BUMPERS, TOWEL RAILS ARE BENT LOCALLY, BUT APART FROM THE 4 ORIGINAL GUARDS. END RESULT - BOTH THE BUMPERS ARE EXACT RE-PLICA OF THE ORIGINAL BUMPERS ON MY CAR

Manish sir....

Please see carefully, Your Angle grinder is lying idle, its of no further use.

I went and brought myself a Black & Decker Angle grinder with all accessories.

Its really coming for much use for almost all of my restorations, Though i know, i will never recover its cost as i may never use it for my cars.

No no I did not mean my grinder, what I meant was use of a grinder (mine was dead even before it could be of any use on my car). I am happy to see the use, which I always intended on my car .

Re: Beetle - my B'day present

Hi Pavan,

The restorations performed by you are awesome and your threads and pics are very informative. Your threads also go on to show that vintage / classic car restorations are not a very expensive affair - as many would assume it to be.

There are a few places however which you could improve on so that the restorations and their presentations are 100 % perfect.
1. The paint job on the cars are good, however the painted can improve on the quality of the paint job. There are a couple of places where there are paint drip marks. This really makes a huge difference to the overall presentation of the car.

2. The paint job on the non-visible areas like the engine bay, the wheel wells - look a bit shoddy and non-consistent (this may be also because of the clarity of the pics). I am sure this if corrected may enhance the look of the car.

3. The pics posted by you are very much detailed and informative. However with the scale of your restoration - we would appreciate high quality digicam pics. Please correct me if I am wrong, but these are cell camera pics right? Good quality pics will go a long way in presenting the way these cars are restored.

In all, its really good to see these cars being restored and used on a daily basis.

Keep it up!!

Thank you very much

Yes, All the pics are from my cell phone.

Regarding the paint dripping, Those are treated during the delivery of the car and none of such marks exists afterwards...

Point taken, and will improvise further on.

It was a treat to follow this thread for the details - positive and negative. We all congratulate the bright lady who saw a perfect B'Day present for her hubby. May we see more such action.

Thanks for all the photos - even with cell phone camera's the output is good. Waiting for the next project.

The trouble in using a DSLR is, i cant carry it everytime as my visits to workshop always happens before or after my office hours, and i cant be carrying DSLR to office. Will try to post Better resolution pics once the projects are complete.

After 7 good months, Srisha came back to Bangalore on 29th (though for a short stint) he did not loose time to come over and pick his Beetle

I accompanied him for a short distance and i could easily see, he was enjoying every bit of his drive back home.

Note: I need to sort out the Only Glitch on the car - IDLING issue.
