Dear Sir Alec,
Yes it is almost an original which can be restored without much fuss. Though the winch must have been taken away by previous owner after the original owner sold it (I suspect).
He is quoting 2.3L negotiable, but as I was only interested in a SWB...I did not go into further discussions with him.

Sudarshan,
It is not grounded, it runs on petrol (Guzzler) and is in running condition. A nearly 50 year old vehicle not being full of surprises is a fantasy.
Regards,

Dear fazal
2.3 Lacs for a non working version is very very steep.

Above examples I posted can be had upwards of 2.75lac.

Imagine Before the BBC people came. they were available for 50k-1lac and nobody were buying. I myself bought 2 of them to scavenge parts.

I agree its looks complete and entirely doable, but iam worried about the amount of surface rust and lack of the window frames which require several original parts to re build convincingly like the quaint window locks etc. not too difficult to get though i suspect ?? but seems exciting !!!

Unfortunately all of them are sold except that LWB model which is fitted with a mazda diesel engine and does work for PWD.
That blue one in specific is bought by a friend from Delhi (Kahai in tbhp). Its green in colour now.

Alec Sir,
This picture was taken in Manebhanjan in 2008, it is really very sad to know that most of them have disappeared, I was looking forward to going there again. I thought that the lac of valid papers for the Land rovers would make them immune to migration.

I found only one LR with uptodate insurance which belonged to one of your friend and bought it.

Thanks for sharing & welcome here .
Thanks ,
The true blue Land Rover was called "La Cucaracha Cariñosa" (The Affectionate Cockroach), It was the first time that The "Darién Gap" was crossed overland in 1959. and a similar attempt by GM in 1960 with team of Chevrolet Corvairs supported by a bulldozer and a fuel truck did not succeed.

This is a Series 1 landy belonging to Adomsons, & the famous Elsa sitting on top of it.
I've read the book as well as watched the movie. Through his life in Africa, George Adamson has owned atleast 3-4 Land Rovers. Here are some priceless shots taken from the best tribute to the man, Father of Lions

A series II pickup

A Series I

A Series III 109" Station Wagon. Can anyone tell what the modern looking pickup is, in the background of the 2nd pic?

Isn't it corrosion, rather than rust?

The Gods Must be Crazy

And if you're a fan of the Series I, these 2 videos are a must watch. Laugh your heart out

God bless you , Predatorwheelz. Its Fantastic.
Yes ,' Gods must be crazy' was the movie that inspired me for this addiction.
One should be completly crazy to own a Land Rover. Owners of thease machine are full of Character, like their machines. This is perfecly shown in this movie.
Thanks again for the movie clips & those excelent photos of Adomson's.
The 'Modern vehicle ' looks like a Mahindra, may be .( I havent gone through the whole link yet )
@ invinci, cheers for the bad habits,
Born free, Live free ( With bad habits ) as long as you can be.

Can never forget the Gods Must Be Crazy movie. Brings back a lot of memories. Saw once in Colombo a completely restored Land Series 1 in mint condition. Not to mention the awesome movie Born Free. Wish they made movies like that today!

Oh forgot to mention, I already found a good home for her, She was grounded due to a broken output gear; hope to have her up and about under her own steam soon. Had to promise the PO that she will be under my care. And asked to return back if she is not kept happy.

Thanks for the wishes. To be honest this is the 7th one of which two were 88"s and four 109"s I sent 4 of them away to friends, Miss Goa will also go to a friend to whom I owed a favor. Agree they are hard to come by.Took me 3years to find my current 88". But look hard enough and you will find them. The folks (humans) at home are mighty supportive as Long as I take them on overland trips. The Lady of the house (human) pays for my LRO subscription. One trip coming up next month to Hyderabad.

Landy Park!

Hello Guys,

Though I have been in UAE for a few years since I got a Bonneville, this April, I have been going to areas heather to unknown to me and there have been a few surprises to say the least.

The latest one was on the last week-end. Somewhere near Dhaid, Eastern Region of UAE on Dubia Dhaid Road I came up on the attached spectacle, which I am sure is a feast to the Landy owners!

Hope you enjoy this.

(Sorry for the poor picture quality of my mobile cam)

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Ram
