Very nice bike. Why cant you yourself keep it and use it as a weekender? That too in Faridabad you wont be having any problems in getting spares. Those ones once missed wont be getting back. Our 1983 Rajdoot which my dad used for the past almost three decades, is just lying at home unused, but well maintained and I use it when I am in India. All the best!!!

Hi guys, I have rescued a Rajdoot motorcycle sometime back from a scrap merchant. I saw this bike which was about to be hit by hammers, after enquiring and seeing the RC book which said its a single owner bike and it was being sold along with the RC book as there is no one to use it.

Poor thing it served its life faithfully and at the end landed up at a scrap yard, I couldn't take that and brought it. No sure of restoring it or to dispose (if I find a good care taker) I have run out of parking space and I also have a Rajdoot GTS ( this is the second one ) which I intend to have it forever, this GTS needs a fresh coat of paint, she is mechanically fit and retains the original shade of colour.

Nice find Chanu. Is it a pre-1975 model? Seems in quiet good condition. It wont be too difficult for the restoration. Congratulations!!

Absolutely brilliant stuff, powertwin!
Wow, alloy chain guard, original footrests, levers, grips, ignition cap, headlight, tank, kneepads, shocks, carb, engine casings, tail light, seat beadings, silencer, forkscrew... Incredible!!!
The only thing that I have a doubt about is the switch on the left side... I have never seen that kind of a switch on the handlebar. The usual one is pictured on page 1 of this thread.
I hope one day I can make my bike look something like this! :-)

Ask him if he needs the kneepads for the tank, I have an extra set, NOS, I can spare.
Your bike should have a seat plate like this>>>>>>
I removed the seat assembly from a WFM Rajdoot clicked some pics:

When ever I see ajay's avathar at Tbhp ( that JAWA LOGO )
a guy from Tirupur comes to my mind, just for sheer love he has on the JAWA Bikes, his name is Raffique, a hosiery garment manufacturer.
Out of sheer love on the Jawa Bikes, he has been manufacturing garments in the brand name JAWA.
He has visited my garage a couple of times to have glimpse at my Bikes>>
always he has at least a roll of polyester collar Tags ( JAWA embossed ) with him!!
Posting few pics of this guy at my garage!!
again @ ajay2233: you can see my Yezdi 350 twin partially in a pic
Will post after paint job!!

Hi folks i also got one 1972 made Rajdoot(along with one bobby, one RX135 5 speed(trying it once again)) i am in hunting mode in my home town once again, few doubts as the one i got is having new shaped silencer pipe, new kick lever with gear shifter, new square shaped head lamp was these fittings are factory original or 1972 makes were same as older ones?
Just waiting for papers from the owner, will upload the pics soon.
Everything is original but need lots of work just like my Rajdoot 350
Appriciate help towards spare parts like new cylinder block, new crank, electricals, front head lamp unit, mudguards, switches, tail lamp, gas tank cap, old shape silencer, all shocks.

Hi all

Just wanted to say to everyone keep the pictures and information coming - I'm really enjoying this thread.

Until relatively recently I hadn't heard of a Rajdoot (we never had them here in the UK) - now I'm learning alot about them thanks to you guys

Best of luck all in your restorations.

Regards
Ed

Hi Ed, Welcome!
Well, sorry I've been out of it for some time. It's only because the bike hasn't been getting much attention from my mechanic, and then as a result, from me. But I have been ordering a few parts from Poland, one of which was an original tank (NO rust!) and other stuff like the original tank rubbers, WFM casings, tail lights, tank cap, switch etc, which are on their way still.
I'll keep you posted!

Hi insaneinsaan

I'm really surprised that you can get the parts so easily still from Poland - for how long was the Polish version of this bike made, and when did they finish production over there?

Regards
Ed

Here are the pics of that 1972 beauty, owner quoted me 3K, its located in interiors of chattisgarh so i have to bear the transportation cost+ paper work as well, let me know hows the deal as i need to do lots of work on this bike including changes in many after market parts like Pipe, kick, gear lever, head lamp dome etc etc.

There are many non-original parts like the kicker liver, gear liver, shock absorbers etc. I think something around 1500-2000 will be nominal for this. All the best for your restoration!!

Hi Guys ,
Have been out for a very long time..

@AjayBiz
That bike looks good. One more active member
Think transportation would be max an additional 1500 by train if all papers are intact.

That kick and gear lever are from the last models of rajdoot, but they dont look genuine. Headlamp is good, chrome is dull but i think its far better than the new ones you would get in the market.

The rear shock absorbers are not original type. check out the pics of "insaneinsaan" bike in the beginning of this thread, it has the original shock absorbers.

Rajdoot exhaust pipe can be re chromed at least 3 times since the metal is thick.
Happy restoration!

Well, it was made until 1969, I believe. Then there was a later model called SHL "Gazela". But the SHL M11 was quite popular. And I guess maybe the Polish climate was less destructive. Also, here, I have heard, many rural people misused the 'doots by running them on kerosene, etc. I guess that could have caused many to be scrapped prematurely.
It is not very hard to get any of the parts in the Polish used market. I have been able to get everything I need, through a friend. Now the only thing left is getting him to send it to me :-)
Powertwin, your kneepads are among those parts, as are the fork screw, aluminium switch, and many other parts I might have extra.
Hope it comes soon! Fingers crossed.
