Re: Hyderabad Classic Scooter Club (HCSC)

Ramgaru,
I need your suggestion. I am owning Bajaj M-50 (1982) at hometown. She is running condition and whenever I go, I'll just wash, inflate tyres, put choke on, give some 20-30 kicks and the engine will start. Then I use for full week without any trouble. Once in 2 years, I do full servicing and oil change. Now after the sad incident I may have to sell many things at hometown. In between (around 1998) she was restored with change in Blazer Blue color. I am thinking M-50 to be transferred on my name, restore again with original "Campfire orange" shade with most of the original parts and bring to Hyd. My father's first bike I really don't want to loose and restoration will give peace to his soul because his first car "Padmini" is also with me in handsome condition and she is part of FCCH. Another thing is whether I fully restore in A'nagar and bring by train or restore in Hyd (I'll get required parts of M-50 in Hyd)? Actually engine is super fine, I have to only change some cosmetic parts and do some body welding, wheel/spokes chroming where rusted.
What do you think? Can I participate in HCSC rally with my 1982 fully restored original orange color Bajaj-M50?
Here is the photo....

Re: Hyderabad Classic Scooter Club (HCSC)

Good to know you have a bajaj M50, this later became bajaj M80 and the last models which bajaj tried to survive is with M80 4stroke, you will find these beauties still doing hard work with the Hyderabad skin traders and snacks vendors.

You can even think of RIN soap blue color and off white leg shield, restoring it in Hyderabad would be good as you find all the parts easily, there is a shop in Ramkote dedicated to this and the owners name is Reddy. I am glad that you can join HCSC also soon, with this my long wish to pull you to HCSC is going to come true.

Thats a great news Narendra, that you own a Bajaj M-80 and in respect to your father,it would be apt to restore it in Hyderabad, where parts will be easily available.
HCSC welcomes you.

Re: Hyderabad Classic Scooter Club (HCSC)

Oh Thanx Ram and Chanu,
I'll prefer the mechanic who will do all the work (outsource from other) at one place and near to Kothapet, LB nagar, Vanasthalipuram or Santosh nagar so that everyday while going to or coming from office I can visit and monitor the progress. Anyway we can decide later. First let her come to Hyderabad.
I have prepared a detailed scope of work for restoration. Please go through it and suggest something if i missed.
So now I'll have nice time with HCSC.

SCOPE OF WORK FOR BAJAJ M-50 RESTORATION

1. Complete body welding and grinding wherever rusted
2. Scratch old paint completely.
3. Put good quality putty for smooth finishing.

5. Silver coating under chassis and front mudguard.
6. Brake drums and chain cover with gray colour
7. Rear suspension coils, stand with black colour

B. Chroming work –
1. Both wheel rims
2. All spokes
3. Silencer

C. Engine work –
1. Change kick axle rod and Kick
2. Clean silencer (and then give for chroming)
3. Change front brake liners.

D. Plastic/Other Accessories –
1. Change Light/Horn switch with steel cover
2. Change Head lamp cover to steel
3. Change original Accelerator and Gear shift grips
4. Repair/weld/change center lock assembly
5. Change clutch and front brake lever to aluminum one

10. Refill suspensions with oil
11. Replace cables whose outer shield is damaged.

13. Replace both side plastic dickeys (original M-50). Don’t put ignition lock
14. Replace front gray cover hood (wind shield)

I never mentioned in my post that there was any judging at the meet. What I mentioned in my post were my thoughts. If you feel that what I posted is inappropriate, please feel free to report my post and have it amended / deleted as per your requirement. I have no issues with it.

Re: Hyderabad Classic Scooter Club (HCSC)

Hi Rahul

Thanks for the compliment , its indeed a pleasure to know that the efforts are paying in.

Hi Ram bhai,

Its was a pleasure to be there on that day, infact for my restoration one of the guiding factrs were the various projects undertaken by you as well as the one done up by our dear Bala its just that we all keep on learning and keep on growing together in sharing our interests.

Thanks for the opportunity again.

Regards

Sushil Narayanan
