Hi, well honestly I have no clue about the races this Ferrari participated in. At that time this car was living near my home, I was very observant as the Ferrari lived near my house and many kids were in awe. The only time I attended a race meet was the last event at the Juhu Aerodrome around 1982(?) and the Ferrari was not present. Other than that I had no clue about racing in India.
Sorry, but you will have to contact the sports clubs/associations.

Cheers harit

What was the colour of the Lancia?
Dr. Rossi had an Alfa Romeo Guiletta in white, a Fiat 124 Dino type in yellow, Volvo stationwagon again yellow and a Plymouth Valiant station wagon in green. Lancia Flaminia sedan in blue was a Dubash car. The Volvo is seen in the background in a pic of the 275.

Cheers harit
Yes there are a few Dubash brothers, Adi Dubash's wife would be Minoo Dubash who is like Harit pointed out Late nawab Ali Yavar Jung's daughter

Re: 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/C (S/N 9085)

Reviving this old thread as some information has recently been shared by noted Automotive Journalist Adil Jal on FB. I quote his words -

Quote:
FAST BLAST FROM THE PAST! Some days ago saw friends from Chennai and Bengaluru commence thinking about the first Ferrari to race at Sholavaram or for that matter anywhere else in India. This was Dr Cesare Rossi's 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/4C, this being the rare Competizione version with the rear transaxle, competition LSD and what not. I have loads of shots of this car but they are going to be used in a forthcoming book next year so can't share them as yet barring one which shows the Prancing Horse in full flight at Sholavaram in 1972.

This car never carried any stickers on it as Dr Rossi didn't like any advertising on it ever barring for the competition numbers and a tiny IARC sticker (for his then club - the Indian Automotive Racing Club headed by Nazir Hoosein who later went on to create the Himalayan Rally Association.

Yes the car was once owned by an NRI or a PIO who had his base in both Singapore and London but from him the car has been sold - by private treaty I am told, to a collector in the US. One of the cleanest of the epic 275s and surely one of the last great Ferraris that one could drive to the track, race and drive back home again! Pure and simple in its application and pleasure.
Along with this he has posted the following picture.

Some more information on Dr. Rossi, for all those interested in the man behind the machine, which is the subject of this thread.

Re: 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/C (S/N 9085)

Reviving this thread once more, as more information has come to light.

This 275 GTB was indeed a factory Competizione model (one of 12 produced) and was in Rosso Chiaro with Nero interiors.

The bill for the car was issued on 23 September 1966 & was made out to one Mr.Herbert Ros, at 7 Jor Bagh, Italian Embassy in New Delhi.

In terms of its history thereafter, the website Berlinetta CC identifies Ros as the owner, and the next owner as Harry Eberlin in the 90s. Presumably, like most stories tell us, the car was taken back to America at some point by thr family of the first owner and subsequently sold.

The car then moved to the collection of Mr.Anil Thadani, with whom it has remained since 1997, taking part in several historical events like Tour Auto, Le Mans Classic and more.

Below is the link for the ownership history:

Also attaching some images of the car from the above source.
