Excellent pictures Rahul. Congratulation.
The pictures remind me of old time movies. All cars were neatly maintained and kept as new ones.
I especially liked the mini and the Benz (not sure what model is that), however the side mirrors of the mini seems like a after market fitment. is it so??

Re: Vintage Car Fiesta at Secunderabad Club - 12th December 2010

Really well maintained cars. The paint jobs are fantastic. I wish the setting was in front of the Club Main building. I would have enhanced the over all feel of the event.

Do not like the looks of Wolseley Golfers Coupe. Looks over done with all the fittings.

Like the Buick BYJ 2325. Is it a 7 seater? Must be a real grand car. Seems to be in top condition. What is its history?

What happened to DKG and his wonderful Packards?

Cheers

Re: Vintage Car Fiesta at Secunderabad Club - 12th December 2010

WOW....superb cars and superb pictures thanks dude for the effort.

KPS - that BYJ 2235 is a 7 seater Cadillac with a royal connection and not a Buick. Its a superb car totally original, owner also owns teh Golfers Coupe. He has a RR too which I would love to see.

Its sooo nice to see the car fraternity in Hyderabda is well and has grown too. Some real nice old timers are hear plus a host of new timers that I must ask about.

The Jeep community has really grown out there. We could never see more than two or three Jeeps at any of the older events.

Another very interesting and heartning thing to see was that so many of the cars ae original Hyderabad cars on their APX and APY plates.

Now the questions.

Regarding the Jeeps the land Rover APX 1979 looks superb, who's is it and whats the story. Similarly the Toyota FJ 40 and the Jeep ABi 7770 are awsome and some news on them is appreciated.

What model is the Merc Coupe, ita als a new car on the Hyderabad scene.

I would love to hear more on the cars mentioned below, their history and who owns them if possible.

1. Jaguar Mark I - BMF 6072
2. MHU 5858 - is it a Austin Sprite, who owns it.
3. Wolsley - MHG 5285
7. 47 Buick sedan white with green roof - 2772
8. 46 Buick Sedan- Blue with no plate
9 Pontiac - AP12E 4625 - pictured for teh first time here
10 Black Dodge - AP37 3737
11 Dodge Convertible - BRM 1907.

It would be great to hear about the above and also who owns them.

Were there not any bikes out there too.

I see Kewal Kant Girs Austin but DKG's Packards are missing and s is the La Salle ?????

Thanks for your comments Wasif! The Vintage Car Fiesta was organized by the Andhra Pradesh Motor Sports Club (APMSC) and they only allow cars in their events.

Gosh a 7 seater Caddy. Surely one the top cars in Hyderabad. Any history ? The other Caddy a 1947 Series 62 also seems to be in top condition

You remember we have discussed much on BRM 1907 which is 1938 Dodge.

Re: Vintage Car Fiesta at Secunderabad Club - 12th December 2010

Glad to see the pics. from this show at last!! 'seems like a very good turnout indeed!

Some of the cars are familiar, they come to Deccan Heritage shows too. And most were present for the HAIG show as well, held a couple of years ago at the same venue.

I really really regret for not being able to make it, was in fact planning to attend with my Herald...ironically Sunday is supposed to be my weekly off (as is Monday) but a few days before, the powers that be at my office had declared a mandatory 6th day OT (over-time) yesterday and since this month is peak time, no leave allowed!!

'cant stop cursing my fate!! Especially considering there were a couple of Heralds too here!! :sigh:
Nice to see Mr. Mushtaq Hussain's Herald ('hope those out-of-place racing stickers and spots are taken off soon!) but also wish there were more pics. taken of the other 'Dharampur 6' Herald! That is no ordinary Herald, it has a royal pedigree and is one 100% STOCK car, with only 5k odd kms done!

However, it seems to get overshadowed at every show it attends.

Incidentally, I know this car ever since it landed in Hyd. from Bangalore in 1998 with a local dealer, was the first Herald I ever checked out in detail...and the first one I ever sat in!! It was one of the best moments of my life!

Check the Cadillacs in India thread for more pics of this 7 seater Caddy convertible and an identical 7 seater limo with a divider that are with two seperate collectors in Hyderabad.

These are probably among the finest cars to be seen in Hyderabad as indicated by you.

The 47 Caddy is also very nice, it a really well restored two owner car which belongs to a noted Hyderabad restorer and enthuseast.

Regarding the Dodge I do recollect that discussion....so the car landed up in Hyderabad then ?

Hope others can answer the rest of my questions.

Re: Vintage Car Fiesta at Secunderabad Club - 12th December 2010

Thank You Mohamed Bhai.
You are as always a fountain of knowledge on the Hyderabad old car scene.

It is great to see and hear that the old car numbers in Hyserabad are going up, Make mw so want to come on down and see them in person, maybe next year.

That Mark 1 Jag that belongs to Raseel was the last car I worked on before leaving India. I remember he has just brought it down, it was white then, from Bombay and me and my mechanic got it started and running for him. In fact I was so pressed fro time that I couldn't even take back my tool from his place. Any idea who restored it for him. The ar was pretty original even then.

What about he Jeeps, te Land Rover and the Toyota FJ 40, all look new on the scene too.

What new cars ae you working on these day.

Please send me a message if you are ever in ther UAE and we will definitely meet us and I will show you some amazing cars.

Dr Luqmaan, an elderly eye specialist with his house and clinic at Abids, used to have an original Buick Super Eight parked within his small compound edge to edge. I saw this car till the early 1980's.As far as I remember it had a two tone paint scheme. Do you have any idea as to where the car is?
