Re: My 1961 Volkswagen Beetle, restoration project

man!! i salute your passion for these beauties. i liked, in particular, the dual tone beetle you have. probably, when i visit my home (in jalandhar) next time, i shall pay you a visit if that is comfortable with you.

i was very close to picking up a '64 Beetle during 2001/2002 in jalandhar but neither did i have the knowledge nor the contacts to source parts for restoration and i eventually saw that car rust away.

Beautiful! These Bumper Overriders certainly add a touch of class and elegance to the modern looking post 1968 Bumper!

Here is a grab from a late 60's Accessory brochure showing the bumper overrider, fanfare horns etc.

Should not be a cause for concern. This is the correct position for the fog lamp when bumper overriders are installed. As displayed in this grab from a 70s brochure :

Another interesting point to note from the 70s brochure is the rebranding of many accessories under the 'Formula Vee' name. With sales dwindling in the early 70s, this was probably an effort to capitalise on the fact that Formula Vee racing cars were based on the VW Beetle platform.

1-the main shroud
2- breast plates and bottom tin
3-2/3 dual port manifolds except the centre portion
4-dog house type oil cooler came with the engine

i can use the clutch ( if i go for 180mm) from the 1200 engine, the fuel pump ,the alternator- will the fan has to be replaced ? the gasket set, i had a new muffler for 1200cc engine, will it fit or will i have to buy another one, suggestions and tips are welcome
I have been waiting to say this sir. YOU ARE AWESOME. Hats off to you for your great collection and I really love the Blue Beetle which you have.

Dear Infotech, thanks for the appreciation and you are most welcome when you come to Punjab, in fact i am almost mid way from Ludhiana-Jallandhar, a slight deflection of 10 Kms and you can reach my place, i would love to share my collection with you,and wish you all the best for getting a nice beetle soon, although it would have been much easy and cheaper in 2001,but never mind you never know, when the luck shines-Good Luck
