Re: Vintage and old classic bikes thread.

Well, it's not an M20.
The fact that it is OHV gies it away as a B31 350cc, moreover the plunger suspension only appeared in 1949.
1942 0n the tank is just wishful thinking.

Yes. This is a 350cc BSA BB31. Early 50's Model. M20's also had plunger frames but that was only towards the end. But from the engine set up this this is confirmed as a BB31.

Whats the difference between a B31 and a BB31? Both are 350s?

The Bike posted is B31 plunger, likely to be '49 or '50.
Even "swing arm " 350cc OHV BSA's was termed B31, till mid 1954, after that same B31 swinging arm Bikes were upgraded with more stiffer suspension & came with a sticky .."B" ...thus BB31.

* If in doubt check out @ " BSA singles restoration " by Ray Backon
mind, this is book not a link!!

@ Pratap{ lockheed}: Did you notice, the front fender AJS M16 looks cool on this BSA ( just ignoring the Stock, originality & stuff)
