Neat work and well presented at Cartier.

If, like the Thunderbird class, Cartier had a Morris class, this beauty would have perhaps got the recognition it deserved.

Congratulations from someone who always appreciates the love and care taken , irrespective of the Marque

what wood did you use for the dash? a solid plank or a veneer?

Used a solid plank of Burma teak.

For a while I also thought about going in for British racing green as the choice of colour but then decided against it.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Second hand screws are available on ebay UK, but there are 100's of different styles and sizes and you have to know what you want.

Check out this link

Check the sellers other items to look for what you want, screw sets are also available on ebay USA, which should suit American cars.

If I am not mistaken, one should never buff aluminium parts. Applies to motorcycle engines as well.
Good job on the chrome too.

Cheers harit

I never knew that, matter of fact I had searched online and there are a lot of pages where the proper way for buffing Aluminium parts are illustrated. I was happy with chrome as well, thank you.

It took a while, 6 years to be precise to change the number plates from white to black, hope you like them.

Finally on 22nd February, I took the car from the workshop and to my grandpa's house which is stone's throw away from Rambagh palace, we spent a good 3 hours cleaning and polishing it.

Something exciting to report here, I was told when I bought the car that it once belonged to Raja Saheb Ayodhya and then was gifted to its second owner.

Today, after all these years I managed to get in touch with the former owner, and his daughters, and the story is true & I quote

Quote:
"Raja saheb was very fond of me and I got it as a gift in 1975, I was being gifted the Ayodhya Mercedes, which is now in the Gem palace collection also in Jaipur, but refused to take it as I was not allowed to take a gift of more than Rs. 2000/- being an IPS officer, finally Raja saheb, got the Morris valued and gifted it to me "
The family has promised me old pictures and I hope to visit them soon.

Wonderful news that the car is indeed a Maharaja Car. Congratulations Kartik. Tracing the history of the car, makes the ownership so much more complete.

I am sure the previous owner will be very happy that the car is with you. Your commitment to the car has been outstanding.

Wish you many more happy miles and great reunion with the previous owner.

Cheers

The daughters of the ex-owner were devastated when the car was sold, they had some wonderful memories with it.

Here is one
Quote:
My mom used to teach in Colvin Taluqdars college and we were in Loreto, closer home. Once we crossed her coming back from school- on our bicycles and she was in this flaming red car with the driver driving her home - 10 mins from our place.

We reached home, finished lunch and waited till the car chugged in about half an hour later.

Also received a couple of old pictures from the ex-owners family

This is with Mr. Misra (IPS, retd.) in uniform, who was also IG fire department.
My Morris Minor 1930 OHC Tourer-uniform.jpg

This one from early 1990's, contrary to my belief the car was well in use till the 90's.
