re: My Morris Minor 1930 OHC Tourer

Had been facing starting issues when using the starter motor, so have taken off the engine for inspection.

My Morris Minor 1930 OHC Tourer-img20160903wa0025.jpg

upon inspection it was found that the flywheel teeth are badly damaged due to years of use/abuse , so now I am looking for a replacement and in the meanwhile will get this one repaired to get the car back on road.

the entire flywheel is one piece, I thought earlier that would be able to remove the flywheel ring and replace, but that doesn't seems like a easy solution.

re: My Morris Minor 1930 OHC Tourer

After discussions on the Pre war minor forum, I decided to get the flywheel repaired locally, by using a hard weld and grinding.

Hope it works

HARD WELD is ok but I think you should have chosen to get it MILLED rather than grinding. Uneven grinding will result in more damage, once the FW is put to use.

EDIT: Oops. I realized, I am too late for suggestion

Regards.

The finish was very even , I think they used very fine grinding or maybe milling tools.

India gained its independence from the United Kingdom on 15th August 1947. Kartik Lunia celebrated this recent 71st anniversary by taking his 1930 Minor Tourer USJ 1795 around the streets of Jaipur while flying the Indian tricolour from the back seat.

Kartik, here is a surprise for you!

Morris Minor in a very interesting body style. The car in a van body style, however does not sport the original grill and radiator. Still this is an very interesting car.

These cars are more like a museum piece! Must be very bouncy and difficult to drive!

Cheers

All the best for Cartier, car seems to be in good shape and with a refurbishment can only look better.

Glad to see regular posts showing the car being used, that is how it should be.

Re: My Morris Minor 1930 OHC Tourer

My Morris had been restored in 2011-2012 and had some areas which needed improvement/correction, once the car got selected for the Cartier show happening in Jaipur, I decided to take the opportunity to refurbish/correct whatever I could to bring it as close to as it left the Cowley factory in 1930.

The doors and the bonnet did not shut well, the cowl was a bit rounded then how it should be, the hood frame was not repaired earlier and the wooden floor needed work among other work.
