sat thank you for the information.
like you say the car in delhi is a 1928 and not a 1927.
it is an open tourer type k and not a 680k.
the plate on the firewall are missing(atleast when i saw for them) when i wanted to take a picture of it. so i thought they would be somewhere else and could not find any on the car.
will check this information that you have given with mercedes benz oldtimer center to get the exact model.
thank you.

pics of the 1928 type K from the mid 80's

Attached are images of the 1928 type K, open tourer which were taken in the mid 80's.

The yellow colour was a kind of anti rust. One can see a little of the original upholstery.

with headlights removed for road trials..

thank you for posting the original pictures SAT. please blank out the number plates before posting pictures. i see the monogram on the grill has been changed by the current owner. the steering wheels on both the pictures posted by you look different. top picture has it in black and below in white, also the diameters look different. the current owner has made a new steering wheel witch is also wrong.

The steering wheel rim (aluminium is original) had been covered temporarily at that time by strips of cane.

There used to be a wooden box over the fuel tank (165 lts). The wood on the canvas top frame is original.

I cannot seem to edit my post. Could I request the mods to delete the image with the number plate, will upload the image again with the number plate blanked out.

Sat the car right now does not have the wooden box frame on the fuel tank. the canvas top wood has been changed to a different one.
Sat there is a 20 minute tim limit to edit your post after witch you have to ask the Mods to do it for you.
hope you had a fruitfull trip.

hi guys, i was just going through this thread after a long long time. I see there is doubt on the 680k. I don't know much about it... so i couldn't say anything. But there is a diff between VJM and DT's cars. Not much... but there is a diff.

Would be great if we can have a look at the engine, chassis, spec plate of vjm car. From the few images I have seen of of VJM car, I think the chassis/body is identical. The bore of vjm merc should be 94mm x 150mm, 6.2 lts.
