Here is a picture of Yuvraj Pratapsinhrao from 1928 (supposedly) at Navasari High School.

Thanks for putting a context / date to the picture (which Harit had posted before). Believe it was identified as a Dodge DG, 8 cylinder, rather rare car.

Re: How rich were the Maharajas before Independence! Cars of the Maharajas

Thank you for posting. I suspect the white gentleman may have been my Uncle John Warth. He bought quite a few cars to London and had quite a career chasing these beautys. This is a photo my cousin has of the car in London I believe.

Wow Duncan, what a smashing way to come to our forum! Thanks a million.

The car is the ex-Mayurbhanj Phantom I, chassis 63TC.

Yes it is. Uncle John is the fellow in the top photo on the right. It is great, as you can imagine, to find a photo of him in action, ha ha !

Is there more than one photo you had posted ? I only see one picture. Would also love to see a rear view, if you have one.

The car also seems to sport Grebel headlamps and winglamps and a black steering wheel in this photo.

I am told the car survives in Belgium. Cheers

Who can tell us more about these photos? These are just a few, more at the link

taken in 1975 in India - a set on Flickr

Pictures posted by Allan Parington. Could they be Mayurbhanj? Mentioned as somewhere near Calcutta, plus we can see trademark white paint stripes on the fenders, commonly seen in that region during the war.
Yes the photo's were taken in Mayurbhanj Orissa in 1975, I am in a couple of the photo's

Thank you Travancore, Allan was there with my Uncle John and has reconnected with Richard thanks to your great forum. I look back with great wonder and nostaliga as I was a young kid and have very fond memories of my Uncle, as we all do at our "Blacksheep/Car Dealing" Uncles no doubt. He was quite a fellow with some wonderful stories and found some quite amazing cars over his short time. I grew up at the time working for my father in his Classic Motorbooks car business in the US reading books about these cars and was always thrilled to vist John as there was always something just unbelieveable to go for a ride in, a halftrack and a six wheeled scout ripping thru the streets of London was one of my earliest memories. These are the photos my cousin has and has kindly permitted me to post them for you. (I am struggling a bit with this confounded bulletin board set up so used to simple facebook now ha ha, please link for me if (required) I have been reading the emails and someone mentioned the car was in Belgium. The second photo my cousin said is from 65 I believe, my Uncle worked quite hard at building a relationship with his clients and whatever your politics he was definitely a gentleman enthusiast, who went far too quick.
