As per wikipedia
Quote:
Mohanpur State was a small princely state belonging to the Mahi Kantha Agency of the Bombay Presidency , It was centered on Mohanpur town in present-day Sabarkantha district of Gujarat State, and included 52 villages.
In the picture below Thakore Saheb Shri Harnath Singhji can be seen with Auwa family( his wife was from Auwa) for Shikar at Mohanpur , the car seems to be a 1936 Buick.

Similar also the Bhogilal Packard, likely not the Datia car.

Pictures taken in Delhi 1912, at the back of the photo is mentioned " Gopalrao Nimbalkar" , he could be from the Phaltan State, or maybe he was the photographer.

The car is almost certainly a 1910 / 1911 Darracq. A similar one (1910) is shown above.

The Rajas of Phaltan did have the "Nimbalkar" surname.

Click on the URL at the top of the picture

Starting at 36:00 you will see many interesting cars:

An unidentified Silver Ghost

The Jaipur Phantom II (22GX)

3 Alwar Hispano Suizas (including the elusive ALWAR-1). This is a car we have seen before, carrying the mortal remains of H.H.; complete with sunglasses.

Many thanks to former Raja Ajai Singh Bahadur of Maksudpur for allowing to share this picture.

In this Circa 1968 photograph, Mr. Ajai Singh can be seen posing with a gorgeous 1928 Lancia Lambda “ BRB 1”.

The picture was captured at the Maksudpur palace at Gaya- once the family’s Gaya town house. The car is no longer with the family and he cannot recall where it went.

How rich were the Maharajas before Independence! Cars of the Maharajas-brb-1.jpg

According to Mr. Ajai Singh

Quote:
"This car originally belonged to Lt. Col. (Hon.) Maharaja Gopal Saran Narain Singh, Maharaja of Tikari. The Maharaja was a motoring enthusiast and owned many of the finest motorcars. He was the first Indian prince to race in Europe on many circuits in the early days of motoring - owning the most formidable racing cars of the age. The Tikari and Maksudpur families share a common past."
I have asked him to share more pictures ,It would be great if we can find out the present whereabouts of this car.
