Here is a Bentley ex Bhavnagar, and a very interesting sporty Rolls, ex Bundi. No details unfortunately.

Only the body came to India, the caption explains:

Delivered in Sept 1928 the Bhavnagar Bentley 6 1/2 litre eng no FA 2515 chassis no. FA 2513 was originally fitted with a Barker 2 seater body (this body was fitted to the car in the above attachment) The Bhavnagar Bentley was rebodied with a Barker tourer body in 1938 which came from chassis no RN 3050 and that is the body in the picture you posted, but it originally had the above body. The Bhavnagar Bentley is now in Australia.

Lovely Rolls body!!

A friend of mine recently sent me this picture of a quaint "Moon", ex-Udaipur, now in Calcutta. Note the strange headlights. Can anyone enlighten me on this car?

The Bundi Rolls Royce is a 1934 Phantom II Continental, (Chassis 15RY; body by Binder of Paris and originally owned by the Maharaja of Jodhpur). It is illustrated on pg 218 in the RR Phantom II Continental by Gentile.

This car also featured in the 1983 TV show "Bring 'Em Back Alive", hence maybe the Bundi Licence Plate

This is the State of Mungir / Munger / Monghyr - see attached link that also shows the car (towards the end of the web page)

Sadhu Maharaj And The Royal Family of Munger

The car supposedly is a 1920 Silver Ghost sold to the Viceroy of India and then bought by the Raja and decorated by a Calcutta jeweller (info from the Tribune India article, 2001).

There are two picture versions of this car - one shows Silver Filigiree on a light colour body and the other Silver Filigiree on a dark color body.

Vintage Cars of India

Sad , but it is a fact. Many cars have been taken away from India, few legally before the ban & many illegally thereafter. When I saw the Rodeo Drive Concours in LA, I saw the beautiful Delage which once belonged to Mysore Royal Family. It is now with Eaton John.
A few years back, one person in Chennai exported a lovely Austin 7 to Colombo, as spare parts in many consignments.
Rare motorcycles are being regularly smuggled out frequenty
