It would be great to have dedicated threads, but wouldnt they clash with the Maharajas thread? I would rather see them there than in a dedicated thread.

Anything's fine as long as the info is easily traced through a search. Ultimately a visitor wanting to know more about these margues should be able to find them.

By the way what do you feel about the suggestion of a photo archive minus the usual comments?

I liked the idea, though the logistics will be horrific (as I have been explained). Either ways, why dont you put it up here.

And another one:
Hispano-Suiza H6 B Drophead Coupe Maharadscha von D'Alwar 1925

I remember having a bit of a race once with the Dehli, Mehrauli, Ivory palace collection RR Phantom II and I was in a H6B and we had a drag race down the Gurgaon Road heading for Sohna and depite the bulk of the PII limo body we were neck and neck after a mile or so. Does anyone see the Ivory Palace cars these days? They had a lovely early RR Silver Ghost and a Delage and a the Marmon? Over to you Awini..

lalaji's granson now takes interest in the cars, and has had the maybach up and running, (i dont like the colour though)he's created a trust to promote arts in lalaji's memory, and vintage cars are included as automotive art. unfortunately the collection has been sealed by the MCD as part of the ongoing sealing drive, but that matter should be resolved soon.

I assume you speak of the Ramchandran collection? Here is the Maybach before she was recently worked upon. The car was in all the news at the unveiling, and one of the Maybach descendants was down as well.

Edit - I remeber in an interview with the grandson he mentioned the colour scheme was traced to be the original.

Gentlemen,

It would probably be best that the discussions on Daimlers and Hispanos be contained in their own/individual threads from now on :

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/pre-19...ers-india.html

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/pre-19...a-s-india.html

Thank you,

Julian,

I stumbled across this forum and your post quite by accident. It is only rarely that one finds any reference to sleeve-valve Daimlers and it is even rarer to find a real car! I like your's which appears to be a "Standard Thirty"

In the past, I have owned a TS6/30, a TJ6/45, a TT4/20 (horrid!) and my favourite (which I "re-manufactured" and owned for 25 years), the ex-Joseph Mackle, works prototype 1918 TP6/30 "Light Thirty" with the 10" 8" wheelbase.

I no longer have any of these cars but still have an affection for and an interest in these fascinating vehicles. I'm getting old now but still can remember much of the data derived from a thermocouple/dynamometer test made of one of the engines in order gain the information necessary to create patterns, cast and machine new junk heads, pistons and sleeves. Bronze welding a crown wheel to build up damaged teeth was interesting . .

I hope you will post more info about your Daimler.

Kind regards,

Wumpletoad.
