Sanghi R-R

Here is another Sanghi R-R. Experts tell me it is probably a Phantom I without the radiator shutters (not a Silver Ghost).

Does anyone know the history / details or have more pictures ?

Travancore I think it's a Silver Ghost only by the looks and mainly the lights and length of radiator if you notice carefully . I am yet in doubt as its not that clear a snap and would leave it to the experts . Rear leaf springs make me think its a ghost only on their exposed length.

Cheers

That was exactly my thought too...until I was told there is no oil cooler behind the spare tyre to make it a SG. Still inconclusive though.

Hopefully somone that has seen or knows the car will chime in yet.

I would say it's a Ghost. Look at the front wheels, no brakes which should make it pre-1923 or so. As far as I know all Phantom I's had brakes on all 4 wheels.

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Extracted a few stills from a video showing 1920s India, in what appears to be an important occasion attended by the Indian royalty and the Europeans with some magnificent RRs and other cars. Survivors?

That is an original unrestored P1 in Dubai, even the interior leather is original and drives like a dream

These were originally posted many years ago by Julian. They are Mayurbhanj cars and much of the film was printed in reverse (cars are LHD!)

The actual videos used to be on Youtube as well.

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Has the RR in Pic # 10, possibly Silver Ghost survived? Any idea about its year?

John Peirson has written in regarding the image of the Rolls Royce on railway tracks with a cow catcher up front.

Quote:
This car, pictured on railway wheels, was never in India. It was owned by Mayo Singh in British Columbia, Canada, when the photo was taken. 137GN has never left Canada. Today it's in Calgary.
Thanks John!

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

I've been reading a lot in the press about a 1930 RR, a Packard and a Jag @ display at the Nizam's museum in Purani Haveli...wondered if we have any pics on this forum?
