Bulldogji mentioned his friends from the UK were driving around India in their Rolls

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/pre-w...ml#post2899509 (Lagonda cars in India)

Yesterday and today they have been spotted at Bharatpur.

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Three cheers to them and wish them a safe journey .If they need any support for their journey in India and around here we should rope in enthusiasts all across to guide them. Thought Bulldogji is an expert also.

Bulldogji please let us know if they are coming to Bombay for us to see if they can spare time to meet up

Cheers

Hi Karl, Kasli, My friends were indeed in Bharatpur yesterday, having driven up from bombay via udaipur , jaipur some other off beat spots in rajasthan, and are now on their way to agra. From agra they go to lucknow, gorakhpur on to Kathmandu. Christmas will be in nagaland, prior to which they will be in gauhati. Then on to dhaka and finally calcutta from where we will ship the car back to the UK. Wonderful couple with an amazing zest for travel in this 1938 Rolls.

Wow! what a feat, please suggest to them if possible they must capture their Rolls with Calcutta's colonial landmarks in the background...wondered if they have blog from which we can track their course, Cheers!

Yes, before the Cartier restoration. Like many have said before, I believe it should just have been "preserved".

List of individuals/families who had RR's in Hyderabad

Nizam of Hyderabad
Vicar-ul-Umra paigah
Khursheed Jah paigah
Asman Jah paigah
Nawab Dawood Jung
Dawood Jung (not the same as the famous Dawood Jung mentioned above)
Raja Pratapgir
Raja Dhanrajgir
Dara Chenoy
Alam Yar Jung
Raja of Jatprole
Raja of Pithapuram
Venkatrama Reddy

I am not aware of families other than these who had RR's. Some of these people had a couple of them. Perhaps you could think of some more people who had RR's

Nawab Izzat Yar Khan (Mohi-ud-dawlah & Guardian to Princes Azam Jah & Mauzam Jah). He had a Yellow colour Rolls, more impressive than the Ex-Jaora # 61-CW that belonged to his younger brother mentioned below.

Nawab Mahboob Yar Khan (Rasool Yar Jung)

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Does a clock from a 1920s Rolls Royce bear some indentification /reference number on it, thru which one can find which car it was extracted from & chassis # etc? Someone has a dash clock from a 1920s RR and he claims it's from ex-jaora RR # 61-CW. Possible? Cheers!

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

The clocks definitely do not carry any ref to RR chassis numbers. The RR build records I have checked give make and some brief description of the clock fitted per clients order.

Last I had seen the car all issues with the engine were sorted and it ran perfect. Knowing the onwer there is no way he would keep teh car in poor mechanical condition.

Some parts, maybe head etc were imported from UK. I had supplied contact details

Hurray! 'adventures of DXX123' was one romantic delightful nostalgic reading! Hope the car is safe along North East Indian jungle routes, and reaches Nagaland safely by December 25! I wish them good luck!

I too dream of similar special drives with my loved ones across India, after I retire, in vintage cars!
