Chassis #3AZ178, second owner was Mahaharaja Kameshwar Singh of Dharbanga.

Here are two that I just found in an old book:

A 1913 Silver Ghost with a 'body built by the Indian firm of Khan'.




The description of this one merely says it was a Phantom I Tourer made for the Nizam of Hyderabad

The Silver Ghost is chassis 2366. Originally a tourer by Cann & Co. It was later modified by Steuarts of Calcutta.

The PI is 71DC for Nawab Wali-ud- Dowla of Hyderabad. Both cars survive in good nick.

The Queen turns 94 today !

Queen Elizabeth II on her trip to Jaipur (India), 1961, seated with the Queen is Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur.

The Car is 1933 Rolls Royce Phantom II, chassis #89MW.

This beautiful car was owned/used till 1943 by Lord Linlithgow, the then Viceroy of India and subsequently owned by Lady Ezra and then by Ray Howard from 1968 to 1972, who was a car racer in Calcutta.

The car also participated in the 1st Statesman rally in 1968, Ray tried to take the car abroad with him but wasn't successful, finally it was gifted to Rev Mark Buntain of Assembly of God's Church and school. After Rev Mark passed away in 1989, the car was jointly bought by Mr. Shashi Kanoria and Mr. Vinay Agarwal, the car was with them for a few years and subsequently sold to a Hyderabad collector.

The car was driven at midnight by Late Shashi Kanoria and loaded onto the train at Howrah station. It remains in the Hyderabad collection

I had often wondered and now seem to be convinced that this body by Khan is a local effort in then NWFP /Peshawar ( Pathan area) of making a tourer into a closed body. The lines and general presentation would surely suggest that. There still is a large local industry in NWFP as well as Punjab of making truck and bus bodies on chassis, previously Bedford and now Hino. So the art of making bodies was there. I may be totally off here.
