The picture that you have found is of me and Mel Crossley who was the son of the owner of the Rolls Royce, He used to drive around the streets of Calcutta with me in it, this picture was taken in or around 1965.

His father was Major John Francis (Yogi) Crossley. His family are the famous Crossley family of Yorkshire and Crossley carpets.

Major Crossley, was one of the original Sea Wolves. Google the film his role was played by Patrick Macnee.

He also had an old Bristol car and a 1945 Mercedes.

Another incident that she narrated

One thought/memory, during the rally, when we came to some traffic lights, there were lots of local bystanders and one of them ran out and put his ear on the bonnet to hear if the engine was in fact running as it was so silent

I have asked if she can help in getting more details and pictures from Mel Crossley.

Supposedly owned at one time by Raja Rao Uday Singhji of Chadawad.

Identified as a 1933 Phantom II Continental; chassis 170MY. But no India connection per the Continental expert.

It could have been owned by the Raja in the U.K.; though doubtful.

I believe this is the Dhar Silver Ghost, chassis 34RE. A Union Motor Car Co. cabriolet.

The photo below probably shows the same car (followed by a 20 H.P. ?) during the Viceregal Visit to Dhar Fort.
