AGK 40 - Khairpur state car

Cheers

And which car is this ?

QUOTE=harit;2871479]Good work. But was this the Kohlapur/Sangli car in custody with Apte?

Now which car is this? The state had a plate in front, I can only read XX??PUR STATE. The first letters are not legible. This car is abroad, has a British registration number.

Cheers harit[/quote]

Here are the identities:

Classic Rolls Royces in India-khairpur-rr-pii-44my-period.jpg

Same car as Harit's picture. Khairpur State RR PII Chassis 44-MY.
Car shown wearing its pre-delivery (to India) British Licence plate.

The Jaipur PII (Chassis 89-MW) was almost an exact duplicate of this car

Kasli's photo shown in colour. This is Bahawalpur RR PIII Chassis 3AX-87 (Licence BWP-205)

Yes, this was the car driven by Arvind Apte after Udaipur bought it from Kolhapur (original owner Rajpipla)

RR PII Chassis 181-RY (Licence "RSY-1")

About the last pic. that was taken at 'Lingampalli Bagh' Palace- is that actually Bagh Lingampally (en route to Himayath Nagar)?? 'couldnt find no palace there though, hardly any space for one there!
It was a huge place with about 55 acres of wooded Imli trees, and a huge round pond as one entered...Part of the palace still stands, in what is the Ambedkar college today.

Where is this car today? Alive?
I got this photo from ebay, and promptly another copy was put up by the same seller. There seem to be many copies of this photo floating around, and maybe I got fooled.

Cheers harit

The car is still around, I have heard in Qatar. Attached is a fairly recent picture by justrolls1 in Post # 303. I also have an ad from the 1980's when the car was for sale.

It could be a Rolls 20 hp

The coach work can be elaborated upon
But I am sure harit knows much more about it and puts up the poser to shake-up and refresh the V & C section.

Trick question or not, this should be the same car going to Pebble Beach - in its pre-restoration state (Udaipur RR 20HP - Chassis GLK-21)

Below is a different view, courtesy of the Eternal Mewar Website

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

Just got this exciting picture, more details next week. Have to decipher the text behind the picture. Its in Gujrati, the car is the Bawalpur Rolls, but who is that lady?

Cheers harit

The photo may appear to be photoshopped, but when one sees the original, one can be sure it is not.

re: Classic Rolls Royces in India

I recently visited the Blackhawk collection, which had a fantastic display. Besides the Rewa Daimler, there was this strange Rolls Royce, also reportedly ex Rewa. Can anyone confirm?

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/beyon...ml#post2870952 (My visit to the Blackhawk museum, Dannville, California)

Also on a poster in a (dark corner) was pictured this Rolls, apparetly ex Sarila (?).

Expert opinion is that the Sarila car is the same as the Charkhari Silver Ghost (Chassis 50-UG). It could have gone from Charkhari to Sarila at some point.

Porbandar R-R Silver Ghost 33-LG

The ex-Porbandar R-R Silver Ghost (Chassis 33-LG) then and now.

Believe the current owner is Sir John Stuttard, Lord Mayor of London in 2006-2007

Mr. Thakker likely owned this at one point (first photo); and probably was taken out of India by Bill Meredith-Owens, along with the Rajkot "Star of India".

Our own TBHP-ian "ariesonu" recently spotted this car in Copenhagen
