Are you sure that steering wheel is original? Look at the special curves of the lower photo the PIII wheel looks like they've chopped a lump out
Quite possible, considering they chopped the whole roof off! That hood looks like a jeep at the right angles.

I wonder how one makes a U turn with a wheel like that though.

Tell us more about the blue cabrio. Very pretty looking car, I was told it is a one owner car still in original paint! Can you confirm that?

The Vanden Plas cut door RR was apparently ordered by a British gentleman in Calcutta who being short wanted the top of the steering off, ordered originally so I am told.

Neither is the car one owner nor in original paint. But a stunner alright.

1930 Rolls Royce Phantom II Barker sedanca de ville owned by the Raja of Tirwa. Picture taken at Lucknow in 1966-67. Colour was black and primrose. Still owned by their family, I am informed.

It was in a Delhi rally in 87 (as the board shows), I think it had come from Calcutta, I think its a 20/25, thats all I can remember. It is nice though.

1937 Phatom III when freshly restored. She now sports whitewalls and has lost the disc wheel-covers. The queer steering wheel should be original, as Ive seen a couple more as well. The dash appears to be a locally redone job. The car was originally a hardtop, with the cabrio conversion done later in India. Im told there was a British gent in Calcutta (?) who was well known for cutting up these classics, and this was one of them. Just telling
you what i was told, cant confirm it.

Hi karlosdeville:

Do you know the Chassis # for the Poownawalla PIII (Panchkote)? "The Derby Phantoms" book lists Chassis # 3CM37 (delivered to Panchkote, January 1938) as a Saloon by Park Ward. Hence the story of the top being chopped off may be true!

Thanks for asking me to write my Intro! I will, for right now, thought I should focus on the cars!!!

The chop top part of it is no story for sure. It is such a crude design one can instantly tell. But nice that we now have confirmation as well.

The light blue and dark blue combo RR is a PIII with Mr. Sanghi. I think the smaller RR is with him too if I remember (maybe wrong about the smaller car though, Ajit can clarify)

Thought I read in a link from Team-BHP that the second car (TDV-1) is ex-Jaipur, now in Coimbatore (?). Cannot remember which link it was.

RR's in India

Deepak, the bigger car is the Sanghi car. The dark blue car is believed to be an ex Jaipur car. The owner lives in Coimbatore, and that's what he told me. A nice car.
