Thanks Egansta for posting nice pictures of Morris8, hope to see more in future.

This is Morris 8 pre war series 1934, next Morris 8 E series produced from 1938 to 1948 stopped during WWII and started with same design until 1948, later versions were more improvement over previous models. From 1949 Morris Minor were introduced by Issis Ignosis. These 8's have close competition between Morris, Austin, Ford-Y, Standard8 of similar shapes
and size.

I have seen in Hyd, Morris 8 one convertible under restoration and other sedan parked in one garage will post pictures soon.

Both the tourers are so very pretty, and well cared for. Morris's were lovely cars and deserve a lot more attention than they receive. The later 1000's were fun cars to drive.

Hey Vintagepoint5, your knowledge on Morris seems worth sharing !! The 1948 8E has a beautiful "waterfall" grille which I've admired since childhood. Do post those pics whenever possible.

Morris-8s are simple & reliable cars. The only problem in todays traffic conditions are that since they dont have a water pump, they tend to overheat in constant stop start situations. The Morris 8 Series 'E"sedans have bakelite dashboards and the tourers have wooden dashboards. posting some pictures of my Series 'E' Tourer.

Lovely car! Btw, sorry for going a bit but isnt the locale in the 1st 2 pics. Nallappa gardens or something (the same place where a song for the movie KAthalikka nEramillai was shot?)
Just curious!

I did notice the roof- my guess is the paint could be original too? Although the fenders seem to have been retouched at some point.

Yes, the headlights have been modified to fit round standard lenses.
The original oval headlight glasses are very difficult to get even in the U.K.
Another big problems in Morris Eights are the tyre sizes - 4.50 X 17 very odd size, difficult to get.

The Morris 8 has turned out to be one of the very durable cars of the whole lot sold in India during the 1940's.Its mechanism is quite rugged and simple. It was and still is quite economical to run. After all its a Morris. The Hindusthan 10 (also a Morris 10 assembled from CKD kits by HM) has become rare. Very few still survive. The Austin 8 is also not as commonly seen as the Morris 8.

Here is a Morris 8 just bought from Nagpur by my friend Mr. Rashid Mody.

I believe its a one-family owned car from new. Its quite original except for some parts like the speedo & ampere meter, rearview mirror and some of the dash switches- btw, is that a lambretta ignition-kill switch (circled) on the dash?? If so I'd like to have it!

Upholstery seems all rexine under the "army" cloth covers.

He was in the process of starting it up when I took the pics. yesterday.

'seems t have even the original toolkit intact! The spare tyre he said, was left behind as the previous owner had forgotten to send it along!
