Re: A Discussion on Model T Fords in India

Here are two pictures of the Statesman T when it participated in Mumbai. These are fasters pictures taken from his thread, which is now on page 3

The best "T"'s in India are presently being restored in Bangaluru.
I estimate > 40 "T"'s left in India in various conditions.

Cheers harit

Re: A Discussion on Model T Fords in India

What a remarkable authentic restoration right down to the original white rubber tires. The T has such a wonderful sound.

Would appreciate having a full set of detailed photos to admire and inspire others to reach this standard. How about posting a video on utube that we can look at and listen too?

Re: A Discussion on Model T Fords in India

The Model T Ford tops the list of cars that shaped the last century according to this news from The Times of India, Mumbai dated 30/12/1999:

Add 2 more cars to the list - I don't think they have been covered before. They appeared at the recent events in Ahmedabad and Delhi

Re: A Discussion on Model T Fords in India

I believe that two Model Ts (if not more) have been recently imported to India. Here is a lovely 1915 example (making it 100 years old) that appeared at last Sunday's VCCCI event in Bombay. Hopefully the BHPian owner will tell us more about the car

It's an import ! And a basic purchase is what I believe under the new law. It's good to see it actually on the Road which its allowed to ply for.

Now it's got no history or Maharajah connection unless some one has put the pot on the stove to cook one

cheers

I can find details for only two Ford T's imported in the country after the new import policy.

The first one was imported on 27-Sep-2014 1925 FORD MODEL:T VIN # 11740638

and the other one which is probably the Bombay car was imported on
16-Dec-2014 VINTAGE CAR 1916 FORD MODEL T VIN: CA694075.

I might be wrong but I think that this car could be 1916 and not 1915.

The car was 1st registered in 1916 but year of manufacture is 1915. Co-incidentally it also is the last year of Brass era in Model T's.

And the easiest way to find out the actual year of production/ YOM for a Ford - T is to have a look at the Engine Block and see the no there. If the car for some reason does not have an original engine than have a look at the Firewall No. If for some reason the Firewall No has lost its sheen due to age, wear and tear have a look at the frame under the body and you will find one, typically called as VIN or Chassis No. In the state of California the laws are different from rest of the states in US. So, any car which is registered in the state of CA would have a chassis no which starts with CA and riveted on door Jams and that is what would be shown in the Certificate of Title along with the Original Engine no and the year in which the car was actually registered irrespective of when it was manufactured.

you're right as per the Ford T database , the Following engine numbers were manufactured in the calender year 1915

"ENGINE SERIAL NUMBERS: 656,064 to 1,028,313 calendar year. 670,000 to 856,513 approx. model year. "
Source : http://www.mtfca.com/encyclo/1915.htm

so the number of this car:CA694075,surely is from 1915.

Re: A Discussion on Model T Fords in India

I have never understood why people are bothered about issues such as 1915 or 1916.
Suffice to say it is a pleasing brass era Model T .

Anyway, thanks Siddharth for clarifying. Nice car, hope you use it often and dont keep it just for eyeballs at rallies.

Why not drive it to Poona for the 15th?

What other cars are you importing??
