I stumbled across this thread, like many that I have, in trying to catch up with years of amazing information on the site.

History buffs who are also into cars, (or should it be the other way around?) couldn't ask for a better forum to indulge both.

What struck me while devouring the 11 pages and 210 posts was that for a thread that is over four years old, not a single reader has had time to stop and thank Deepak for this amazing thread.

And that could only be a reverse compliment, as before you know it, the casual read-through has for most people, become a slack-jaw, wide-eyed absorption of all things good, and the unfolding of a grand era that can now only be imagined and comprehended.

I only wish I had had the chance to go through this last week, as I was in Hyderabad for a few days, with some afternoons to spare, and company that was very interested in cars. But maybe another time.

The posts recount that the stable contained over 200 automobiles, but we have listed only a handful. Where are the rest? Even barring a few lost Fords, there are at least 45-46 RRs to account for. That's a lot of missing history. Hope we track them all down.

Cheers

I've rechecked, the year is right i am informed, as one of the pupils in the pic (my mom's uncle) was born in 1930's and also Basalath Jah's looks correspond well to those years.

The missing link...Ex-Mukarram Jah Jeep's trailer seen @ Chowmohalla Palace, i feel it makes the Jeep complete, hence should be with it regardless of whether the Jeep is with the Estate or elsewhere. Cheers!

1937 Alvis 4.3 Litre (#14334) with one-off Maltby Redfern Saloon Tourer body supplied to the Nizam of Hyderabad.
Does anyone know if this car has survived?

I believe I have seen this car in the Illustrated London News as ordered by the Maharaja of Kashmir. Will try to dig it out and confirm.

My dad always mentioned an Alvis in Hyderabad, but he remembered it with someone other than the Nizam's family. It apparenty had one of those python horns that sat on the fender. its possible there may have been two Alvis cars in town.

This car is a Braiser, I'm not sure what year it is, around 1904-06.
