Nice car, looks like its just been done up. However, the fiat front sidelights really mar the original look, and are unnecessary too! If at all sidelights are required, round/conical jeep ones would do better.
Also dash wouldve looked better done up in black as well. I suspect that was the colour the car was in earlier?

Yes Stanher the car had an earlier repainted beige paint which is evident on the dash. True the Premier parking lights don't suit the Austin 8.The original SU carburettor was replaced with a Solex. However it has the original engine, radiator, meters and so many other parts as is evident.
The four cylinders are not equidistantly placed as you can observe in the engine from the spark plug placements. This may have been a distinguishing feature for older Austins maybe.
As you will see the front windscreen could be opened. The rotor on the dash and the slotted jack that lifts up the windscreen are all original. The inner rear view mirror like many Standard cars used to be fitted on the lower side, just above the dash. The original bracket mounted by two screws is seen on the lower part of the windscreen.The mirror is missing.It used to be rectangular with sharp (unsafe) edges of the mirror glass.

Nice find Anjan ! Reminds me of my dad's 1948 Wolseley Eight, which also had an openable windscreen. As kids, we would have real fun riding with it open - true "wind in the hair" motoring..
By the way, aren't the side lights supposed to be miniature replicas of the headlights ? I have a piece from the Wolseley, will look for it and post a picture of it tomorrow.

If you mean the Austin 8, they appear to have never had sidelights at all:

Hey Shyam in all the three pics you've posted, there are these tiny little light - like thingies on top of the front fenders. That's what I meant. This is the one I have.

Super Select hope to see your Wolseley's picture soon. Yes as you have shown and also as Stanher's links show the Austin 8 had small chrome plated parking light that were located atop the front mudguards. They also had semaphore indicators which this car featured here too has but not in working condition.

The four cylinders are actually exactly equidistant from each other. The placement of the plugs makes it appear that they are not equidistant. The plugs are placed this wasy to optimise the combustion taking in view the rout of the inlet & exauxt manifolds.

The Austin turned out great. How does it drivre ?

I have been meaning to ask you about that red car visible in some of the earlier pictures and in the second pic in your last post.

Any idea what car this is. It has a very unusual look to it.

Wasif so you also noticed that red car MP 04 AA 5644. Thought it was like a Mini Moke but not at all so.Its an assembled car with body parts from several sources.And would you believe? It has a sub 1300cc Nissan diesel engine, like the ones that used to power the Mumbai Taxis in the 1990's. I have put out a thread where you can see its better pictures. the thread is entitled "Some mod jobs done on vintage beauties"
I did not as yet drive the Austin 8. No doubt the garage owner is my friend.
