The International came as a bare chassis, a pick up or a panel van. People would buy the bare chassis and have pretty much any kind of body fitted to it.
The surprising part is that both Mr Naths & Mr. Harith's apprar to be in RHD configuration.
Keeping in mind that International was a major truck exporter these may have been export versions.
Very Rare even in the US. A must save and preserve car.
Here are afew pics. |
Of the 4 pics shown, I like the 2nd one, metallic green. The colour does not suit, but other than that it seems to be original. The other three are clearly hot rodded.
Mine is a 1948 KB2, with a Woody bus body style, original RHD. basically all is there, except original wheel caps, meter cluster and grill monogram. If someone can help source from USA, great. Ofcourse costs will be reimbursed.
The pic by Mr. Nath is a lovely bus, which is unusual. If there is a story, would like to hear.
There is one more International truck in India, it was Kerala registered and lying off the highway at Vashi. This was heavyduty, meant to haul trailors and belonged to a contractors firm where a family member actively collects cars and bikes. All Bandra boys will know who I am talking about.
I hope that Mr. Nath can save this bus. |
