Sorry, here is an error. There is no Avon in Titus collection. Perhaps you mistook for the Auburn? At one time that was missing an engine too. Did you see this Avon personally? Was it yellow?

They also are much sort after for their expertise in turbocharger manifolds recently having Turbo Charged a Honda City so much so that the top speed is attained in 8.72 seconds as against 10.3 seconds in a stock car.
I think you meant 0-100 and not top speed.

Atleast my OHC doesn't do 0-185kmph in 10.3 secs. Hehe

RJL 2704 Rathore's car to follow shortly.

The Titus Collection does not contain the missing Avon, so I am still looking for it !

When you say "the missing Avon" are you definite that there is still one more car in India? Many years ago, I was told that there was an Avon in Mangalore missing its engine. But a car surfaced with engine in place. So, maybe we are NOT the wiser.
Attached is a photo of a car I believe is an Avon. Could you kindly identify the model? This photo is from my private collection.

I have had various rumours of another Avon from various sources, but as yet have been unable to tie it down.

The photo is almost certainly a 1933 or 1934 Standard Avon 16HP Sports. Its longer bonnet points to the 16HP version of the Little Twelve, Twelve or Ten version. This model was only produced in 1933 and 1934, later the wings were changed to the more conventional flowing sort with running boards.

Hope this helps, and would love a copy of the photo for my collection !

Present owner Nitin Dossa. When I started taking interest in Vintage cars mid 1970's, this car was owned by a Sardar who regularly participated with his family. She was off-white at that time, he lived somewhere in Cuffe Parade. Then she landed up in a garage in Hinduja College lane where she was picked up by Choksi. Then mysteriously she was in Delhi, supposed to be on the verge of being exported, saved and now with Nitin.

3. MRW 5580 Red/ Black now ? Was White/Red earlier no idea of engine size. This car was lying in a workshop garage in Pune, fully red in colour but pushed against the corner. Saw her for the first time in 1979. But was not for sale. Then the family took interest and made her red/white with new tyres.

4. RJL 2704 . Where is this car now. This car I believe was in Jaipur and got sold to Jodhpur. Hopefully still there.

No more Avons known in India, but they can always surface.
4. RJL 2704 Blue/Black 1932/3 16HP 6cyl - Is now in Udaipur at Fateh Garh and is being restored as of now. It has been invited to participate in the Cartier Road Show in Delhi in Mar.11

So now there two Avons in Cartier? Actually I was already aware.
Some have to please their masters
Watch the participants list specially from places far away from Delhi and clarity will be there.

Re: 1934 model 10 hp Standard Avon Special

These cars make a nice pair, marvelous when you think that they were selected only in January 2011 for the event and then spruced up.
Can someone tell which car is more original, given that these are identical models? The grills and lights are different, the bearded mans car seems to have a non original windscreen.
These cars are dolled up, one is still quite askew, not really Cartier material. Saying so because Cartier is supposed to set a standard, this time supposedly not.
The pretiest Avon in India is in Mangalore, the Pune car has solid substance, not original only for the carb.

Re: 1934 model 10 hp Standard Avon Special

I just came across a newspaper of 1999 covering the Pune vintage car rally. It was organised by VCCCI, they were relatively new, and it was the best ever rally in which I took part. The atmosphere was huge, the crowds on the street were fantastic, I drove in my Lancia. Almost everyone had a blast. Sad Pune does not have VCCCI events anymore.
This was the fourth Avon which participated, a Pune car with Mumbai registration. In fact this was one of the first cars I saw in Pune, lying in a garage, not for sale. Here she appeared after a restoration. I should have a colour picture somewhere.

Cheers harit

A rear shot of the Pune Avon. I haven't seen this car in ages. Last I saw it maybe 5 years back, it was red and black.
