Before I bought this car, it was a one family car. The 1st owner of the car was a liquor baron G V C Babu Naidu, Proprietor, The Distillery, Bellary.

On his death, the car was transferred to his son Amarender Naidu in 1963. I bought the car for Amarender Naidu in Jan 2009. To sum up from 1932 to 2009 (77 years) with Naidu family and 2009 till date KPS family

It was interesting how we bought this car. We got a call one day that in Bellary, there is this huge old car with big lights, 7 seats, largely intact and sorry no idea on the make and the asking price was xxxx. The same night left to Bellary, in the morning saw the car for the first time, paid the money and brought the car to Bangalore the same day. Rest is history.

The first sighting of the car by us

Re: 1932 Plymouth PB Seven Passenger Delux Sedan

Recently we had a KVCCC Rally for only 10 cars to participate and raise awareness of Glaucoma, in association with Nethradhama Super Specialty Eye Hospital, Basavangudi. There was a small drive of about 10 kms. The hospital were wonderful hosts and look after us very well.

Here are pictures of the my Dad preparing the car for the rally

Re: 1932 Plymouth PB Seven Passenger Delux Sedan

Plymouths are great to drive. Too bad the brand was withdrawn from the market in 2001 and all models rebranded as Chrysler.
I still have a 1997 Grand Voyager that has been a very comfy, trusty and great family van that is nearing 200k miles on the odometer, but looks like it's days are numbered since the rust has been creeping up on the chassis thanks to all "magnesium chloride" used on CT roads in winters to tackle snow/ice

Re: 1932 Plymouth PB Seven Passenger Delux Sedan

Today's KVCCC Rally was wonderful. It was also special, as my only niece from Canada was visiting us. She had a good time and we were able to give her a very new kind of experience.

Re: 1932 Plymouth PB Seven Passenger Delux Sedan

Just went through each and every page of this post. Wow!! What an epic journey. Beautiful work. Credit to to your family for saving this gorgeous car. Every detail has been attended to. Very, very nicely done.

It is these stories of pains taking restoration that bring me back to Team-BHP again and again. I sincerely hope that you and your family enjoy this car for the next many, many decades.

Re: 1932 Plymouth PB Seven Passenger Delux Sedan

My BIL was in town from Canada. He was seeing the physical car for the first time, as in his last visit the car was being restored.

We took him for a short ride this Sunday morning

Thank you so much Travancore. That car is definitely a Pymouth PB Seven Passenger in Nepal! Amazing because they would have had to carry this car across the mountains into Nepal.

I wrote to Mr. Jim Benjaminson, Member Secretary at Plymouth Owner Club and he has replied as below

Quote:
Hello, Subbaiah

Merry Christmas to you as well! Thank you for the greetings and for forwarding the photograph from Nepal.

Yes, the car does very much appear to be a PB Plymouth. I can't explain the lack of the twin cowl ventilators but the wood wheels are not a problem. Plymouth continued to offer wood wheels up through 1934.

The story on the PB phaeton from Nepal was indeed in Bulletin 108. I will email that issue to you (hopefully it is not too large a file for your computer to handle). The car was discovered by a person working for the U.S. State Department and he had it shipped back to the USA. It was restored and belonged to a good friend of mine, Les Leather, in Colorado. Les just passed away this fall, and his obituary - along with a photo of the car - is in the current issue of the Bulletin (#334) that is now in the mail.

I did photograph the car in Les' car barn a couple of summers ago and I will forward those photos to you. The PB phaetons are quite rare -- might be one or two more of them than there are the 7-passneger PB's. Interesting thing is, when those cars were new, there were no roads to transport the cars, so they were carried by hand over the mountains! I can't imagine the labor that involved! I found a magazine story last year about one of the last "porters" that carried cars into Nepal and sent it to Les. Judging by the age of the man in the magazine article, he would have been too young to have helped carry Les' car when it came to Nepal. I didn't keep a copy of the article - and I wish I had now!

Again, best wishes to you and yours for the upcoming year. I will forward those photos to you under separate email.

Though phaetons are produced in lesser numbers, it appears that are fewer Seven Passenger survivors

Cheers
