I read this news article and it was hard for me to believe it. So the state of affairs has reached such low levels that road users won't think twice before killing some one else for educating them.

Do you feel it is unsafe to get involved and raise your voice when you see such road menace ?

Moral of the story : do not waste time trying to advise idiots who are also drunk.

This is what our nation has come to, if this continues the time wont be far where almost all disputes will end in the death of someone.

The worst thing is what to do? Do you start carrying weapons, but that will bring problems of its own, the police dont care and the government doesn't listen, so in short what do you do.

This has gone to the extreme case of road rage as far as bikers are involved. Poor chap, tried to do something good but ended up in a tragic incident:eek:.

Have seen some of the bikers using foul language when I tried to restrain them from squeezing into places where they can damage the car esp the OVRM's but havent come across any biker who acknowledges that they are wrong. Some stare back, some use cuss words, some block the way and deliberately try to go slow as a way of giving back for hurting their ego. But I smile at them every time and shake my head looking up at the sky and they get the message.

This is very scary. May this man's soul rest in peace.

Also, it is a promise to myself that I will never advise any stranger on road safety.

Our country is going to dogs. And most of the people in elite circles (educated, car owners) are concerned about economic policies, money and how to make more money. My father recently traveled across few African countries and Sri Lanka. These so called "poorer" countries impressed him with their etiquettes on and off road.

I am not sure what is safer - a country where an ordinary advice can get you killed or a country where you need an armed escort when travelling at night.

What horrible news! How sad for the poor man.
What are we coming to, in this great country of ours?
Is it indeed such a complete breakdown and regression to anarchy?
Maybe we also need some hard-core population "culling" to bring life back to its original "sane" levels!

I would certainly feel unsafe even speaking to some rowdy looking chap on the roads, if this is the state of affairs.Complete law and order breakdown!

Those 5 perpetrators should be given Capital Punishment without the option of recess in the sentence!

This news made my blood boiling. A strong question arises within me whether our civilization going down the drain and next to nil?. What next? if someone feels hungry and strong enough, he will try to eat his weaker fellow beings?.Cannibalism, perhaps?. Those 5 animals should be hanged till death. Come on, a murder in return for advising safe riding!!! where are we heading to?!!

To answer the Thread opener's post, I always use to raise voice for safe road manners and against public nuisance whenever witnessed. this incident is not going to change it. Instead, it may change my coolness while dealing with those monkeys on road. Its better to kill rather than being killed when you are at the right side.

Timely news, just day before yesterday when i was getting out of office in CV Raman Nagar we saw two two-wheelers (One Scooter and one Motorcycle) doing Willy, with two folks sitting on each of them, and decent traffic on the road, it sure looked dangerous.

For once i thought of advising them, but they did not look to be in senses from distance, so i decided to let them play with their life's and moved on.

My heart goes out to the family, and feel saddened by this demise. Hopefully the law will ensure these folks get the punishment they deserve.

Expected first reaction and completely understandable. Think about it a little more and I am forced to question this conclusion, we are creating a bottomless pit by ignoring anti social behaviour.

Carrying weapons is not the solution to any problem, we need more stringent laws and mechanism to ensure the guilty are booked and brought to justice "promptly". More than this we need education on road manners and responsibility as a driver when you are in charge of a motor vehicle. If you fancy doing these antiques, go to a race track.

The other side of the coin I guess, still won't solve this problem. I agree we cannot do anything more than that as a spectator when we see such incidents, but as a collective team of responsible motorists in India, can we not start an initiative to at least bring to the masses the consequences of road rage and drunk driving ? I agree we are doing enough to our capacity as a community, but don't we need to do more ?

I understand your emotions behind the post, but this statement depicts exactly the mentality of the people who killed him. Probably according to them, they were right and "just having some fun", isn't it ? They outnumbered this poor guy, they were right (in their own messed up heads) and they had the strength, so they killed him. A very fine line between what is right and what is wrong here.

Let me first condemn this heinous act whole-heartily.

I agree emotions do run high, especially when a do-gooder gets the wrong side of the stick. I think law should take its course and the accused should be booked accordingly. I will now-onwards think twice before sharing anything with fellow roadies.

But calling for "culling" or "hard core culling" is according to me sadist, anarchist and plain sad after all we aren't talking about diseased chickens here. I didn't expect this from a fellow team-bhpian. But if you were light-heartily putting your point across then it's just on the verge of being ok.

Sad sad sad news. May the perpetrators of the crime receive the highest possible punishment as prescribed by the law of land.

Dont get judgemental on what was intended with borderline jocularity! But seriously we are fast becoming a diseased society...

This is a very sad reflection on the state of affairs in our country. Some clown crashes and falls of his own accord, and then decides to blame the guy who advised him what he was doing was dangerous. Some sick twisted logic indeed.

Road rage and alcohol are a very bad combination. These five clowns deserve the death penalty, but odds are they won't get it.

In our country we have a problem and that is the feeling of ownership. A scooterist will ride on the road as if he owns it, same with a trucker, motorcyclicst or for that matter any other driver. We simply fail to accept that anything and everything out of our dwellings is a public property and is to be shared by all.
You can preach the illiterates amd make them fall in line but what about ppl who know it still ignore at will ? There isnt any amecable solution in this case except the law taking its course
What makes matter worse is people getting outrageously ignorant if you try to educate them and may shower on you words which you do not deserve at all or at extremes resort to physical abuse. Few days back right outside the gate of my apt there was a water tanker parked (reason being, one of them went to pee). Slowly cars started to queue and when one of them dared to protest, it pisses them off and what follows is abuses, simple and useless show of strength etc etc. This mayhem continues for a good 30 mins with too many ppl getting involved and finally the cops playing their part.

What's the point ? When i was in Germany or US, what i observed is even if somebody is unwillingly within your comfortzone while in a lift, they will make sure you face miinimal discomfort. Why can't we have that culture here ? The problem is the mentality, where people are in a hurry to outsmart everyone, even if that smartness makes no sense(i mean wrong place, wrong time and wrong reasons). We oursleves do it at times and later realise it was a complete nonsense.
I hope our law and order, insititutions and all other authorities wake up to the call of time and start playing there roles (no favours expected), just make sure they do what they are supposed to. Do it either by educating ppl, make stricter laws blah blah but make sure we all follow the slogan of "Live and Let Live"please:
Amen !!!
