You got to admit, it's a pretty cool gift :thumbs up. Imagine what the parking lot must have looked like, with everyone riding away in the same ISI-marked helmet :).

These days the amount of money people spend (waste?) on weddings is ridiculous.

I've gotten a few invites recently which said the usual "blessings only", but also followed that up with a list of a few charities that were dear to their heart and could be donated to if you were still keen on giving a gift. :thumbs up

If I can be a bit picky about the couple giving out helmets... only wish they were full-face helmets! (Related thread: Safety of Open vs Full-face helmets)

Recently, it has become compulsory for all two wheeler drivers to enter into Mindspace, Navi Mumbai with helmets on. It is also necessary that the helmet is worn on the head and not carried in hand, suspended from handle bars, stowed in glove box etc. People violating this are denied entry and have to park the vehicle outside the campus (at the personal risk of it being carried away by the cops).

If all colleges, schools, housing societies implement this then it will be a great success in getting people to wear helmets.

Only police cannot do everything, we need to contribute too as how the couple did.

It's a thoughtful gesture by the couple and appreciate it. Hope we see a gradual end to the age old habits of emptying your life time savings on weddings and instead use it for better purposes.

Apparently yes. A friend works for their network team in Pune, and they're very diligent about safety standards. Policing everyone round the clock is obviously impossible but the nagging apprehension of getting caught 'anywhere' is enough for most people to fall in line. I wish more companies did this.
