Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Which is the best place to buy a original LS2 helmet here in Bangalore, anything close to marathalli would be preferred or if the place comes highly recommended for authentic stuff, I do not mind travelling far as well.

I also bought a twister 2 weeks back as an additional helmet and like the features given for the price, it's a very good entry level helmet I think. Got it for 3900. It's very well worth the price.

Only problem with the helmet is, at speeds above 45/50, you can feel a gush of air/noise from the left side of the helemt, which is coming from the gap at the internal visor switch. Just try and cover the bottom side of internal visor switch with thumb and you can make out that the air/noise stops immediately.

Will try and fix this thing in the coming days, it is quite annoying on the go.

Otherwise I like the fit and finish of the helmet and also the internal visor and pin lock given.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

any place in bangalore or online where we can source helmet inner liners for MT helmets? After 4 years the liners have worn out and lot of wind noise seeping through it.

Hi. I had written to Spartan Pro Gear regarding inner liners for my MT helmet of 4 years as well. They are charging ₹1650 for the inner liners only. I felt it's quite expensive for a 4 year helmet which would also reach it's usable life of approximately 5 years. Hence ended up buying a new helmet itself.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Well hello everyone,

After a lot of deliberation, excrutiating research and a budget that changed quicker than the chief minsters of Karnataka, finally picked up a helmet yesterday.

My main focus was weight, speaker cutouts and features for touring.

The search began when I started getting excrutiating neck pains due to my previously improperly weighted and pathetically balanced studds shifter.

So finally went ahead and bought the Scorpion exo 1400 carbon, a light weight and superbly constructed helmet.

Comes with a clear and a dark smoke visor and a pinlock insert.

Feels fantastic and compact in hand.

The shine on it is incredible, you have to see it to belive it.

Will write a short review after using it for a couple thousand kilometers.

Re: SMK Helmets - Upgrade to Pinlock70

Continuing with earlier post on page 153 about SMK helmet, replaced pinlock insert and visor recently. I strongly feel that those who wear spectacles should use Pinlock70 as it covers entire glass.

Mount point for lens inserts is different, hence pinlock70 also necessitates a new visor.

Lens insert and visor costs around 2,400 for SMK helmets.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

I think the pinlock 70 is a generic product that works with visors designed to fit it.

If so, this is fantastic news for those of us with international brand lids who might need a replacement pin 70. Really awesome.

I think the pin 120 is the top of the range, that pretty much covers the entire visor leaving no edges and providing a flush fit.

Orion motors behind Forum mall Koramangala has Bell but only one model. The Qualifier. I tried it on and it was a basic but very comfortable helmet. If you can find a Bell Qualifier DLX, it would probably be the better option.

Thanks for the pointer, options in this price point seem to be very limited and basic! To make things worse very few shops have XL size. Just to make things easier I am looking at other brands too.

Experts, please pitch-in your opinion about below listed helmets:
Origine GT RAIDER :

Pros: Extremely light at 1.38KG, decent options available for my size, DOT and ECE certified.
Cons: Very little info is available and a bit expensive(9.2K!!!!) considering the features and brand establishment.

HJC CS-15 :

Pros: Well known brand, parts availability might be quiet easy. Decent value for money, can pick one right away.

Cons: Just DOT certified.

HJC CL 17

Pros: SNELL APPROVED!!! other pros would be as above.
Cons: Price compared to CS 15.

BELL qualifier

Pros: Brand know for good quality and safe helmets, parts availability(at least abroad).
Cons: Only DOT certified, expensive for a basic helmet.

I am open to other options as well, initial budget was just 6k, but willing to spend 9k at max, stretching it more would delay the purchase, which I don't want to happen. My current helmet is almost 6 years old and needs replacement quickly.

Why not look at LS2 or MT range of helmets? They are pretty good, just make sure, you buy the authentic ones.

My friends have both of these, are have faced lot of issues, but I am not sure if the LS2 my friend had was original!

Might hit the track at Chennai soon, hence wish to stay clear of what is popular locally(good chance of fake).

Guys, finally settled for Origine GT Solid matte helmet!

Bought it in Chennai from Motogear in T.Nagar(thankfully didn't have to travel to Bangalore just for this).

Yet to start using the helmet, but initial impression about the helmet is good.

Pros:
Extremely comfortable for my weird head, L was a perfect fit! quite a surprise since I could were none of my friend's helmet in the same size.
Very light, my neck will thank me on long rides on my bike and hours of commute on my scooter.
Went for this design to avoid unwanted attention at places like mall parking, SOL was a pain in this aspect(unicorn was quiet a looker), had to carry it around during the initial days.
Visor is readily available as of now, shop was filled with Origine Helmets.
DOT AND ECE certified.

Neutral point: Not as ventilated as my SOL, but hopefully less resistance and wind noise too!

Cons : Yet to use it extensively, hence need time to fill this part.

Purchase experience : https://motogear.in/

Shop is being updated for more models, found the collection decent enough and prices were competitive, owner is not offended by bargains, unlike other shops, so go ahead and try your luck before getting something from the US

Hi, presently I am using a Vega Moto cross type helmet (with shade). I like this type of helmets since it gives respite from sun in the eyes and reduces strain on the eyes.
Now do we have a comparable model from better manufacturers like MT, LS2 and the likes? Budget is max 6000.
