Yes, Spartan is no longer selling the SOL helmets.

I had a close look at the MT helmets and they are superb in the finish, construction and fit. I'm waiting for a particular one to be launched and will buy one as soon as it hits the shelves. Need to replace my 4 yr old SparX.

Which model are you waiting for?

I think I will also get an MT helmet. Do they run true to size or buy up or down? My crown size is 60 cm and it says L according to SPG.

Raincoats / Rain Jackets / Waterproof wear.

Guys,

Traveling on bike to work.
What raincoats/Jackets do you all prefer?

Requirements:
1. WATERPROOF! (Current jacket gives away after 10 minutes of average downpour!)
2. Flexible / Durable
3. All weather (if possible).

I would like to order one - ASAP.

All help/inputs appreciated!

Thanks,

Ace.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

I generally avoid riding in the rainy season, but I use the DSG Nero in case I have to. If all the mesh panels are zipped, the water does not seep in. RJays also has an all weather jacket where the lining can be removed, but taking it off after it has been drenched is a bit of a problem.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Apparently SPG had a contract with SOL to be a sole distributor of their helmets in India. But SOL did a tie up with another distributor which pissed off SPG and they ditched all the contract with SOL.

So until this 'new' distributor gets stock of helmets people will have to wait.

BTW MT helmets look awesome bang for the buck going by the reviews. Even better than SOL i would say

I wear a Spartan ProGear jacket and have a WildCraft jacket to wear over that in case of rain. Bought it a size bigger.

Re: The Riding Gear thread

Guys,

Thanks a lot!
BUT,

I am asking about a general-rain-jacket/rain wear.
(That's why I had posted in Apparel thread-- this was moved to Riding gear thread)

Could you guys share water proof gear you guys have?

I am looking for a good jacket to serve the purpose.

Thanks,

Ace.

Well, the link I'd posted to is of only a rain cheater. It works great too.

Maybe you are looking for a riding jacket that is rain-proof too. The SPG jacket I have also comes with a rain liner.

Maybe I totally missed what you are looking for

Thanks, the rain cheater is good.
But, I want to wear the "rain cheater/jacket" over my regular formal clothes.
So, I would like a jacket kinda arrangement.
More like this:
Wildcraft Rain suit (related products)

Sorry for the confusion!

Ace.

I inquired about this & the true size fits only for REVENGE series & others are one size lesser than SOL. Means, "L" in SOL is "M" in MT. I bought "S" in RaceLine & its certainly righter, snuggier & little perfect fit than SOL. And yes, MT fits super duper compared to SOL & also IS (confirmed IS) slightly lighter than "S" SOL 68S.

100% eyes closed I will say BIG YES; fit & finish of MT is really awesome & certainly lighter than SOL 68S (using it for atleast 15000 Km & 48S before that for over 10000 Km atleast), perfectly integrated to my head. But if you ask me about the wind noise etc, I think (because I've only ridden for hardly 60 odd Km) its almost at par with SOL 68S.

Also MT has a full shell compared to half shell of SOL. This means, MT has shell covering upto chin through ears to the back of the head, while SOL only has the front part of the face upto cheeks & run upper part of head & above the ears running to back part of head (imagine it like a open face helmet)

I was told about NFC feature in MT, where in upon a greater impact the sensor in the helmet sends signal to a programmed phone number in mobile & sends an alert to that number. More about this...

Thanks for checking that out aargee! Guess I will go ahead and place an order for the MT helmet next month.

I don't have further info on this matter. Just shared what a reliable source told me.

I have M sized SL68S. So if I am buying a MT helmet I should buy it in S size eh? I am eying the Blade series
