re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Yikes! Sometimes accidents look stupid but this is crazy on a whole new level. The sheer recklessness displayed by each driver involved in the accident, is amazing. Take any party out of it, and the crash would have still happened. If the Alto wasn't there, the trucks would have crashed into eachother, if either of the trucks wasn't there, the Alto would still have crashed with the other truck. Simply terrible display of human behavior IMO.

I thought that the alto driver was trying to overtake the truck from right side and take the divider and cross the road.

Unfortunate incident.
Do this intersections have any kind of traffic signal?
In my opinion all of them are at fault. One should atleast slow down at these kind of junctions.

And even if it was just the first truck, he would have gone over the divider on the other side and toppled. He didn't slow down at all.

That alto accident is here.

It seems that Alto driver was taking right at the turn overtaking the truck. The truck driver avoided hitting him and thus moved to right. Unfortunately another truck was coming in the opposite direction who couldnt stop on such a short notice and ended up banging the car.

Very unfortunate. Wonder which car can take impact such as this one.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

IMO biggest idiot, is the Alto's driver. Trying to compete with a monstrous truck, overtaking from the wrong side, its like a perfect pit maneuver that cops in the US perform in a car chase.
What was he thinking, was he high on something, feel bad that 5 lives were lost for no reason. What would he have achieved even if he had successfully overtaken and completed the right turn.
Its like getting steam rolled, the lorry going straight had the right of way but even he is not perfect, should have at least lifted his foot of the accelerator while approaching a junction.
Should always be cautious while approaching intersection on Indian highways, take your foot off the accelerator and be ready to break you never know what surprise is in store for you.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Absolutely suicidal right turn by the Alto driver! The truck on the rightmost lane wasn't intending to turn right at all, which is why he was at speed and could not stop and veered right to avoid running over the Alto. He also seems to have run over the divider partially. The Alto driver wanted to overtake the truck and turn right at the same time (which we Bangaloreans witness drivers doing every day). Its one thing doing it in crawling city traffic and another thing attempting it on the highway in front of a 25 Ton behemoth. When people carry their bad city driving habits to the highway, this is what happens.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

So many mistakes in such a small footage
1. Truck and Alto trying take a right turn without looking out for the vehicles coming from the opposite direction.
2. Alto trying to take a right turn from the main carriage lane, when there was a dedicated right turn lane.
3. Alto overtaking from left side when he wanted to take a right.
3. Truck not slowing down while approaching a junction.

When do we learn? Its very scary to even think of driving in between all this. But we do this day in and day out. Even the properly driving guys are at risk in between all this.

Tragic Alto accident. From the video it seems to me it is the Alto driver's fault. I can't believe the speed and how close the car was to the truck when attempting to take a 90 degree turn. Just crazy. There was no way it would have made the turn without hitting either of the two trucks. The Alto driver must have been so focused on overtaking the right side truck to not see a fully loaded truck approaching from a distance. I think he saw the approaching truck as the last second and tried to complete his turn more tightly which (due to lack of space) made the first truck pit the Alto. A tragic basis driving fail, paid for by the passengers lives. Sad.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Both the first trucker and the alto guy was at fault, They were too busy in taking the right turn first than paying attention if there is any vehicle coming from the other side, Also the truck coming from the opposite side too looks like was speeding, He should have been slowing down knowing there is a junction coming up, There can be lots said about the video about who's fault it is, But people should just simply learn after watching these videos and be safe.

For me all 3 of them are at fault, By the way, The truck next to the alto wanted to go right? Or does it seem he was just trying to avoid the collision? If he wanted to go straight he should have simply braked, though it mostly looks like a race to take the right turn first.

That's a freak accident. Sadly the timing is so perfect that the Alto was pasted and swipped onto the truck.
If the truck that wasn't taking right was heading straight, it's on the wrong lane, and the Alto driver did a typical Indian move and paid the price. Sad.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Sheer bloody-mindedness on the part of the truck driver (which the Alto was attempting to overtake from the left) might have saved lives. If the truck had continued to track straight and brake in a straight line, instead of compensating for the Alto driver's stupid overtake maneuver, the accident could have remained in the left side carriageway instead of spilling over into the middle of the junction. Which, as we can plainly see, caused the car to become the meat in the sandwich.

+1

The notorious intersection is at it again, but from all the videos that I have seen, its mostly the idiots crossing the intersection without a clear view of what's coming from either sides. Of course there are some videos where even the folks that have the right of way were speeding but mostly its the guys trying to cross it.

Coming to this video, the Alto driver was at fault here. The truck dragging the Alto was in fact trying to avert the collision, there was simply no way he was going to take a right at that kind of speed.

However, the other truck driver also didn't slow down at the intersection but I'm not sure if slowing down at an intersection is even a law?

Both the trucks had the right of way and if they were within the speed limit then they didn't do anything wrong, except maybe not being in the slow moving left most lane.

I only feel bad for the 4 occupants and definitely not the driver, what a moron!

It looks alto turned from left most Lane to take a right turn onto path of middle Lane driven truck. Now to avoid the car the truck driver moved to his right but seems alto driver rather than getting out of accident by turning left now he continued going right and tried braking which further aggravated the car trajectory. It is purely drivers fault as if he would have been careful he wouldn't have Come on to path of a truck coming from behind and then if he had idea of car momentum against the braking, steering combination he could have saved 5lives. To me it looks truck driver also got hurt badly.

Further the truck won't have seen the alto to be right In his way as they sit high and the cabin creates a blind spot right in front. Who thinks that it to be truck fault I suggest go and sit on drivers seat of a truck and then judge

I don't think any car would have escaped this considering the trucks I guess are 15Ton payload capable each.

The five deceased include 2 children and a woman, such a tragic ending for no fault of theirs.
