As deerhunter has pointed out, there are right and wrong ways of doing this stuff. It's in the details from engineering design through to correct installation of specified materials. The result may not look strong to us laymen. Or, equally, you could be looking at an example that is not properly designed/implemented.

I hate to think that some of this stuff might actually be designed by guys who just saw pictures of what other countries do . That's how I felt about the first pizza I ever ate in India. But that wasn't going to cost lives.

From the looks of it, there is every possibility that the brakes were applied, looking at the skid marks.

I am not referring to many other skid marks here but there were marks that clearly were in the path of this Xylo this morning, indicating every possibility of braking before it went and hit these railings. Fresh marks, darker than the rest and ending exactly at the pivot of this fork where this Xylo climbed the median and the railings pierced.

Although this looks like any other exit, the challenge here is that majority of the traffic forks out towards Hosur Road while only few head straight and on a normal day you can easily spot non-regulars missing this exit and reversing too.

Is that because "straight" is the NICE Bangalore-Mysore expressway vapourware? I am trying to orient myself here - looking at the road sign mentioning Hosur Road, I think you are coming from Hosakerehalli side and turning left onto NICE Road?

Heading straight actually means you just have one choice to exit ahead and invariably you will start driving towards Mysore Road, Magadi Road, Tumkur Road side. So there will be folks headed towards Magadi and Tumkur side as well since taking NICE from Hosakerihalli to Mysore Road makes zero sense.

Also, the ORR from Hosakerehalli to Tumkur Road is a signal free stretch that most will prefer taking ORR Itself to reach Magadi or Tumkur Roads.

The BMIC Expressway is imaginary as you know .

That is absolutely correct. But NICE is not just the bow connecting Hosur and Tumkur Roads but also an 8 km long interchange that ends at Hosakerihalli/PESIT and this is referred to as "Link Road".

Try saying that to someone living in BSK 1st/3rd Stage and traveling towards Mysore often!

Personal use case: I'm a frequent Decathlon Mysore Road customer, and if I need a specific item and no intent to kill time browsing the aisles, I can literally do a round trip in an hour flat on decent tarmac at a leisurely 60 KMPH on my scooter riding outside the extreme left lane marker. No choking on smoke/dust and relatively free of homicidal traffic (well almost, can't have everything can we?), all for a princely ransom of 44 INR total. Beat that for convenience

I can't remember the last time I've been on the Nayandahalli-RR Nagar-RVCE-Kengeri stretch of Mysore Road, and I can't imagine why anyone would want to take it if they live in the vicinity of the PESIT NICE junction and traveling towards Mysore.

Signal free, not traffic free. On a working day or during peak hours, the stretch between the Rajajinagar/Nandini Layout turnoff and Tumkur Road junction can become a major bottleneck to someone wanting to actually hit the highway towards Tumkur and unfamiliar with or unwilling to use internal Peenya roads.

Are Royal Enfields literally made like a gun? I ask this, as frequent visitors to this thread would all know and agree how tough the Punto actually is. I hope the biker is safe, I am am very confident that the Punto driver would be safe - just hope he was wearing his seat-belts though.

My guess - over speeding and overtaking without much room on small two lane roads of Kerala, and then boom!

Also the tyre is bald..scrubbed to the TWI level. Maybe , that hampered the braking.

Look at the slipper stuck on the Bullet. There's one mangled foot for sure.
Anyway, a Bike rider ramming into the side of a car hard enough to break its suspension bits and take a wheel had to be going at relatively good speeds. Wearing chappals? What else would he have neglected? Minor sympathies only.

Just saw the bike's pictures carefully, and noticed the chappal stuck on it... And worse still - the helmet is safely clipped onto the bike's rear grab rail !!
I see so many bikers do this, some even put it over their heads and not secure the helmet using the straps - what makes them so lazy is something I cannot imagine.

I also hate the cool dudes who wear coolers, and white earphones while zipping and cutting through traffic rashly. Invariably, the earphones with these idiots are white in color too! Don't know how there is a pattern with this

I thought that was some sort of an accessory until I saw your post.

I hardly see well kitted RE riders here in Kerala (any rider for that matter). Most of the RE rider,s I have spoken to, are very knowledgeble about bikes, but reluctant to wear safety gear. 'I am immortal' kind of attitude.

I dont know whose fault it is here, but RE bikes are probably the worst handling bikes in the sub 2 lakh category (except Continental GT). Each and every manoeuvre has to be planned in advance to correctly execute in an RE. Unanticipated emergency braking is a big no. But I see a lot of RE riders riding it like a sports bike and making a lot of noise with their modified exhausts.

Hope the rider is safe.

This accident happened at vidhan soudha road, near infantry road junction. The Etios was hit by the bus. Do not know who was at mistake; by the time I saw, the ambulance had arrived and people were taken in.
People had gathered, heard them say that, the taxi customer was badly hurt than the driver. I wish both are safe and stable at hospital. :(

The passengers in the bus were still waiting in the bus; driver wasn't seen in the spot, may be, police has taken him under custody.
