re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

The one front tyre that's visible in the pic seems to be completely bald. The rear ones too don't show significant tread depth. It could probably be an illusion as the tyres may have picked up mud and so appearing bald, but going by the front tyre I suspect the tyre IS bald.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Well, another young life lost due to idiots on road rockets, and riding without a helmet or a license.
http://www.ndtv.com/delhi-news/17-ye...-delhi-1666498

Reports today suggest that the car guy may have been drunk, and the police have zeroed in on 10 cars. Assuming that he wasn't drunk, and was within speed limits, what would have happened in case he had stopped after the accident, apart from being beaten close to death?

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Another day, another Mercedes. A Merc has mowed down a 51-year-old man who was crossing the road. The accident happened somewhere in South Delhi. This time there was a cop on the scene who apparently tried to stop the car and noted down the registration no. Hope justice is done.

Looks like it was twilight. Some cars had their lights on while others did not. Maybe the biker was drunk maybe not, but he certainly did not account for the Swift. You can see another car guy flashing high beams on the biker, maybe he was blinded by the high beam and that's why he did not catch the swift with its lights off? That's why its a good practice to switch on headlights as early as possible to be as visible as possible to other motorists.

Re Sonepat video.

Mostly the bikers fault. Regardless of lights he had no business crossing at the point he did. God forbid if those two pedestrians were knocked over everyone would have blamed the car driver. I have to say for a road which has intersections, the swift driver too could have been a bit slower. Just knowing the lawlessness and mindlessness of Indian drivers.

Bone chilling accident at Chennai on ECR.

Happened yesterday. "Viewer discretion recommended - The accident is fairly graphic."

The chap who lost his life happens to be the son of a house keeping staff in our community.

Am lost for words at this total disregard for personal safety and safety of other road users.

Sad indeed

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

This highway - NH1 - is a nightmare from Delhi till Panipat. I travel on it frequently. The amount of vehicles, from massive trucks to cyclists that randomly cut your path of travel is just bewildering. Its a miracle, really, that more accidents don't happen - although as it is the number should be very high. Another amazing aspect is the speed with which cars and small LCVs - especially taxis returning from international airport pick up or drop - dash in and out of the lanes.

Edit: Last couple of videos on this thread have left me in a sombre mood. Sharing a lighter take on the dangers that involve driving in our country: http://jalopnik.com/a-guide-to-drivi...ying-262254628

Two law breakers collide, and guess who is going to get royally jacked in all of this? The bus driver.

Aren't both the bikers coming from wrong side? Man!

These last few bone chilling posts prove two things :

Drive within safe speed limit, within which you can control your vehicle.

Don't brake hard to save an idiot who is on suicide mission anyway.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

While both are riders are coming from the wrong side, the biker who got run over by the bus was literally speeding on the wrong side. If you see, it was all over in 2.5 seconds from the time of collision to the he got run over.He had no time to react whatsoever. Hundreds of bikers take this risk on driving on wrong side on highways . Many get away . Some don't. Few pay for the mistake with their lives.

Believe he is already arrested.

Although I have no great sympathy for these TNSTC / PRTC guys considering the way they drive through this stretch, I pity the poor driver.

At best he had only a few seconds to even preempt this disaster let alone react and try avoiding. It must be traumatic for him as well.

And yes Dceite, both the bikers are going the wrong way.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Probably the TNSTC bus driver knew he will get thrashed by the public although it was not his fault, which is why he stopped and resumed.
Goes on to prove again, driving on our roads are as good as fighting in a war.
