I believe the photos were taken after both vehicles were moved to clear obstruction and do not show their position immediately after the accident.

In the second photo, the tow rope, or cable, is clearly visible behind the Xylo.

The third photo shows the Xylo being towed away.

The Merc seems to have the impact very well. Good to see all the airbags deployed - toward the end you see smoke coming out of the car when the driver opens the door. Is it the gas / explosive from the airbags?

Yes, merc driver felt he could squeeze in before the bus, but had to slow down for the blue car. Wrong judgement and surely an expensive one.

The buses front wheel is locked up,also turned right. There is no steering effectively. Wet roads made it worse.
My guess is the KSRTC bus in the beginning of the video going in the opposite direction probably blocked the bus drivers view and from the trajectory of the bus that hit the Merc, there was a curve too.

Terrible driver. No caution due to weather. Wrong timing to cross. Trying to enter the petrol bunk from the Exit side (you can see the Exit sign board). Never ever take a chance with heavy vehicles.

The car took it really well. The photos make it look like a simple swipe, I was shocked when I saw the video.

I think what saved the day for the merc is the fact that the bus hit the rear left door of the car, thereby giving it a spin and eventually throwing it out of the way. Things would have been very different had the car been hit on the front passenger door in which case the car would have got dragged and sandwiched between the bus and nano.

Merc takes the first bus, which is overtaking a car, as an opportunity to cross over the other side. The first overtaking bus pushes the on-coming bus (2nd) over to the unpaved shoulder. Now, this 2nd bus has nowhere to go because by that time the merc is perpendicular to the road and blocking. Once the bus driver realizes he is going to hit the merc, he is potentially blind to hitting other cars ahead.

Merc driver probably didn't see the 2nd bus since the view must have been blocked by the 1st bus which was totally in opposite lane.

The bus driver performed emergency braking and did it well
He tried to avoid the Merc by turning right.
However the bus with no Abs, wheels locked wet conditions assisting front wheel locking, heavy vehicle, could not do much and went with the speed to come to rest.
The front wheel locking when steered right has ended him crashing with the nano in the end.
Nevertheless the bus driver was speeding at a potential point of hazard, since we exit and enter any side of a petrol bunk in India.

Most of us on this forum MAY have done it more than once ASSUMING conditions were safe.

Merc driver learnt a lesson.

The Mercedes accident reflect on importance of solid body structure. Most Japanese would have crumpled and intended into passenger area if in same situation.

If some has understood the Malayalam commentary in the video, they are kind of blaming the polo for blocking the way, and the bus for causing the accident, and not the Benz because he had put on the indicators it seems

Slippery road due to rain has also ensured the Merc had to bear lesser impact as it easily got pushed aside soon after the bus collided rather than the bus ploughing into it and the resistance offered by the Merc on an otherwise normal (dry) tarmac.

The dents on the doors and quarter panel looks so minimal even for a very well built car if one looks at the way the bus(and speed) collided.
