As per eye-witness, this happened when a truck on the flyover accidentally spilled a drum filled with tar on to the road below. The truck was reversing, and it tipped the drum, which resulted in hot tar being thrown on cars below.

Really unfortunate for the car owners. The damage is uncalled for.

I thank God that none of the pedestrians and people on bikes got sprayed with the hot tar.

Had one such experience myself.

My newly bought Aspire got sprayed with cement while I was passing below an under-construction flyover somewhere outside Delhi. As much as I wanted to protest in a similar fashion by stopping my car in the middle of the road, there was nothing much I could do, except for stopping somewhere ahead and then yelling at the top of my voice inside the car

It took around 3-4 washes in a period of one month for the stains to gradually wash away.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Yesterday while driving back from Chennai, on the Palakkad/Thrissur highway, was witness to an accident involving a young couple. The boy was lying in a pool of blood and a young girl was almost under the wheel of a tipper truck. I passed by on the opposite lane. Today’s Malayalam paper had a report on the sad accident. The girl and the boy expired at the site. It appears that bike was driven into the back of the stationery tipper truck at a signal. Might have been over speeding. The girl was a 10th std student and the boy a youmgster from Coimbatore, probably out for a spin.

A Terrano rear ends a Hummer in Kerala and there’s little or no visible damage to the Hummer at all.

Not sure if these pics have been posted earlier here or not. But these have been doing rounds in whatsapp of late.

^That is a Nissan Terrano if I am not mistaken.
No visible marks on the Hummer, maybe minor scuffs.

Looks like a Nissan Terrano to me.

Seems the Terrano's bonnet has taken the hit. That shows how high the Hummer's rear is!!

I had a similar experience with my Palio bumping into a government bus. The bonnet folded like a wafer.

Oh yes, that’s a Terrano. How come I missed that! Either the Terrano couldn’t brake in time or was distracted by a rather unusal car with an uncommon tall stance which made it rear end.

It is a temporary import. Do a Google search for CARNET

Thanks!!

Reading the CARNET Wiki page you linked, it says "In China, India and the United Arab Emirates, the use of Carnets is limited to fairs and exhibitions."

I guess there is a loophole in this which allows rich expatriates to import them and use it here.

Embassy / Consulate staff personal cars are allowed to be imported. It might be one such vehicle.
