Apparently, as per today's papers one mother tragically lost all her three children in this accident. Life rarely gets more cruel than this.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Interesting read.

"To prevent minors from driving on public roads, in the last two months, 26 parents have been arrested in the city after their children were found behind the wheel"

Quote:
"In March, 20 parents were sent to jail by the court and this month six parents have been jailed," Anil Kumar, Joint Commission of Traffic Police, Hyderabad, told news agency ANI.

From compulsory counselling sessions to registering of First Information Reports or FIRs, the traffic police in Hyderabad has evolved a full-fledged program on how to enlighten and counsel both the children and parents.

It's very common here in Kerala (and I guess that Dodge resides in KL too). Many NRI's do bring their cars from the Gulf for a short period, something like what you see in London during Ramadan (Ok, not to compare to that scale ). AFAIK, you will need to deposit around 80% of the car's price and some documents as collateral and you can take it for 6 months to 1 year. I may be wrong with the carnet facts but these are private vehicles used abroad.

Sorry for OT.

Yet another case of school van crash. It's becoming intolerable day by day. Can't really put myself in the shoes of the parents who lost their little girl.

"According to people at the site of the accident, the van carrying students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, both located in Keshavpuram Part I, deviated from its run to take a sudden left turn at the crossing on Bhagwan Mahavir Marg apparently to be able reach a service lane on the opposite side. An incoming milk truck could not stop in time and crashed into the Omni."

As tragically stupid as cruel.

Excuse if this single-line summation is slightly inaccurate, but Why is a person who is talking on the phone and paying no attention to a railway crossing being allowed to drive a school bus at all?

This is the latest Third Gen Dzire. Full head on impact with tree & large commercial vehicle it seems. Details still patchy, but occupants walked out with minor injury. Both Airbags deployed. Front crumple zone done with. Triple digit speed for sure. No damage in tyres.

A welcome sign from makers who have been ridiculed for their Desi sheet metal work.

How (and why) sure? If a tree and/or large commercial vehicle are involved, even a 50 - 60 kmph impact can do this to a car of any brand.

Quoted by driver to SA. He wants this car restored out of appreciation for saving his life. Inspite of SA advising him to write it off, he is still sticking to his guns.

OK, but that was probably the speeds he was doing before impact. He would have braked hard before crashing, which would have reduced impact speed. Even for the driver, it is tough to guess impact speed - unless he saw the speedometer a micro-second before impact.

A welcome sign indeed! It has taken the impact well. I have been very skeptical about Maruti's sheet metal even with their new models, and this is an eye-opener.
Although, I doubt this was a triple digit speed impact. Nothing can survive an impact at that speed with a heavy vehicle and/or tree. The energy transfer will simply be too much for any crumple zone to take.

Like smartcat said, it was most probably around 50-60, which is the speed at which crash tests are carried out, if I'm not wrong, and it has faired exactly as they claim it should.

P.S : The owner should really write this one off as it will be terribly unsafe to drive, with the heavily impacted chassis, etc. He can go and buy another Dzire, for the emotional value it holds for him.

Not a good idea, I guess.
Keeping the sentiments aside, the structure would have developed weakness and I am sure it will not perform the same, should it ever find itself in the same situation again.

One can restore it and park it in the back yard to show to their grandchildren and tell stories, at the most.

Looks like the tractor was idling, the impact from the other tractor forced the tractor into gear?

People who have driven a tractor can explain properly.

The guy standing in front of the tractor acted so very fast to pull the lady away from the tractor wheel out of harms way. Amazing presence of mind and reflexes.
