This is so true.

One of my batchmates died because a truck ahead of him dropped a branch on his head when he was behind it on a Vespa. This happened 30 years ago in Pune.

Ever since I have a pathological fear of overhead branches. And Shivasamudram...

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Witnessed a fairly bad crash on Kanakapura road yesterday evening around 730 PM while going towards Kanakapura. In the darkness I could notice an Indicab (or similar) on the far left, facing the opposite direction with much of the front gone and some kind of a loader vehicle sticking out of the ditch on the right, 20 meters before. My guess is the Indicab was on its way out of the city and encountered the other vehicle head on. While approaching I passed two ambulances which were probably heading back with the victims.

Additionally, most drivers insist on driving with their high beams on, or some sort of after market LED which makes it impossible to see what's coming from the other side.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

So apparently bikers can be knocked down by stationary vehicles as well.

The following incident happened in front of me today evening while getting back from work in Rani Sati flyover.

Stationary vehicles are often held responsible for collisions. Also other stationary stuff such as walls, trees, etc.

But, in this instance, did the bikers actually try to blame the car driver?

I am not aware. I drove past them.

Crossed this aftermath on Agara Flyover (in Bangalore) today. Blood on the road indicates someone got injured.

Most likely, just some coolant from smashed radiators.

That's more likely than blood. Blood being thicker won't leave such a long streak. More like a pool.

4 people from Bengaluru died when their car rammed a lorry from behind on Sunday early morning near Dindugal, TN. This news article quotes that the driver may have dozed which caused accident.

Here is a wonderful article on 'Drowsiness and Sleepy driving' of Team BHP on how to recognise and avoid sleepy driving.

Hello Johnnny!

It's a Swift. If you look at the radiator grille you can spot the difference.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Quite a lot of bad crashes during the last week end. Here is one more. (Which car is this, Safari?)

In the accident that occurred last night, an Infosys Mysuru employee was among two killed when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a roadside tree near Bullikempanadoddi on Malavalli-Mysuru road. Four others, who sustained injuries, were rushed to hospitals in Mysuru and Mandya.

The deceased are Vishakh (22), an employee of Infosys Mysuru and a native of Malappuram in Kerala and Ashna (24), also from Kerala. The injured are Nashal, Sebin, Nitya and Brunda, all said to be from Kerala.

The youths were on a trip and had hired a car yesterday to visit various tourist spots such as Shimsha, Shivanasamudra and Gaganachukki falls in Malavalli taluk. They were returning from the tour in the evening when the car went out of control of the driver and rammed into a tree near Bullikempanadoddi.

Angry villagers block road: Angered by frequent road accidents on the stretch of the road, villagers staged a demonstration near Bullikempanadoddi on Mysuru-Malavalli Road by blocking the road for some time.

Accusing officials of failing to act despite repeated pleas on laying road humps, protestors blocked the road for sometime by placing logs on the road. Maintaining that accidents happen frequently on this part of the road, the protesters urged the Government to the take appropriate measures that help smooth flow of traffic on the curved stretches.

Interesting to see that there seems to be no cross-members in the door frame. How does the hexa door feel (weight), when open/closing ? I have travelled once, but dont remember enough.
