People tail other vehicles so that no one else cuts them in between forgetting they are putting themselves under peril.

Irrespective of a bus stopped somewhere or braking suddenly, every car/bike driven properly should have enough time to stop.

"Sheetal was reversing her car on the wrong side. It was hit by the Santro car from the rear side. Nitish Kumar, stepped out of his car and asked the white color car occupants to not drive the car on this road. It triggered heated arguments following which Sheetal pulled a rod from her car. She hit the driver repeatedly. A passerby made a call at police control room. As a police party rushed on the spot, Sheetal tried to justify her act", a police officer said.

Sudhir Kumar, one of the eyewitness, said, "Apparently, Sheetal wanted to take left turn on a slip road but she went straight. As she realized that she had went forward, she took a reverse. In the meantime, Nitish's Santro came and a small collision took place."

Nitish's medical examination confirmed severe injuries on his hands. "Prima facie, the girl was at fault. She attacked him unnecessarily. A case was registered against her at Industrial Area police station under IPC section 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide)," SSP, UT, Nilambri Vijay Jagdale said.

The driver, identified as Saurav Ganguli, was a resident of Nawada. Ganguli was en route Fatuha to write his graduation examination papers when, at around 1.15 am Thursday, he lost control of his speeding XUV 500 and ran over three children at Zakiul Haq Slum colony. The car rammed into an electricity pole which also fell down due to the impact of high speed.

The deceased were identified as Halendra Manjhi (9), Rohit Manjhi (13) and Raju Manjhi (11). Manish Manjhi (10) was critically injured.

His co-passenger was also beaten up by slum dwellers and is in critical condition.

I am not supporting the mob justice, however when children get hurt, people give into their emotions and loose sense of judgement.

Unfortunately and in reality, the above protocol is seldom followed. Mob justice is the prevalent protocol which is why people flee after a mishap (if they can) and report at the nearest police station. This is not to be mistaken as hit-and-run.

The reckless manner in which many people drive in our country is of grave concern and needs to be corrected by building awareness of sensible driving and ruthless enforcement.
We are a far cry from the way vehicles are driven (carefully and rule abiding) in most other civilized countries.

Has anyone seen the Video of this accident. The two boys who died were actually sleeping on road. I am sure not intentionally, but were there on road. The kids who were on ramp survived. They ran towards their parents on waking up.

The news says the driver was going to write his exams to be held next day, wasn't he supposed to have a good night sleep before exam to relax or wake up early for a quick revision. What was he doing at 1:15 in the night? The car was fast, no doubt. He needed some retrospection of himself, if he was capable of handling such vehicle at high speed instead of mob justice

From the video, it is clear that 3 of the 10 children were "on" the road. News reports mention that they were sleeping "near the footpath" which I believe makes them equally responsible for this mishap as the SUV driver, if not more.

There appears to be a ramp in the sidewalk where these children were sleeping. It's a possibility that they rolled down onto the road while asleep. But whatever happened is sad and wrong, RIP to the departed souls.

Who lets their kids to sleep on the road? I am sorry, but this is not justified.

The parents should have been more careful about this. The car was speeding but then no one expects people to sleep on the roads. Both are at fault here. Sad the media doesn't bring out the news in a truthful way. If such an incident had happened in say a country like US, the parents would have been held for negligence.

If you notice the video, the car was moving straight on the road, the driver must have got scared seeing the children on the roads, panicking and thereby losing control.

The govt instead of giving them money should start the rehabilitation of people living on the streets and educating the children, and improve their social status, otherwise such things will happen again.

For the under run protection to work should the front of the car be more than 640mm tall, in most cars it usually is, but if the truck or bus ahead is decelerating and there is weight transfer to the front, the suspension is going to raise the rear a bit, where as the following car will be having its front suspension pressed down.

Thanks Rahul. You really explained it well.

If a person is sane enough to maintain the needed distance and speed when trailing a vehicle then rear ending of any vehicle can be avoided. Because of the car driver now unnecessary trauma to the bus driver and all the parties involved.

The headline says car fell over bike. Looking at the pictures, my first thought was that the bike went through the car and was still intact!

But the last few lines suggest that, after hitting the bike, the car turned over again and got back on its wheels. The bike remained stuck in it.

EDIT: This is how the Dzire would have hit the bike. Makes sense now.

This accident took place in kottayam, Kerala.
Onlookers say that the 2 wheeler did not have enough space to enter a bridge while running parallel with a Kerala SRTC bus and the rider ended up hitting the footpath on the bridge. Looks like the bus ran over him causing death.

The 2 wheeler rider lost his life in this accident. KeSRTC says it was not their mistake. Investigation is in progress.

The two wheeler looks to have enough space to enter the bridge until the bus overtook him and ate up his space. And he didn't yet hit the footpath but braked when he realized he can't make it and skidded. The bus seems to be coasting dangerously closer to the footpath after overtaking the bike. Was the driver sleeping?
