I had the same thought, maybe, just maybe if she was looking ahead instead of down, she might have had a better chance at survival !! Feels sad to see how any moment can turn out to be your last moment.

A dedicated pedestrian walkway may help cut down these incidents to a certain extent (availability of which will remain a dream, at least for the foreseeable future).

That is murder and not death by negligence. The reports in the papers mean nothing since they print without any verification or authenticity. I would actually like to see the report of the mechanical expert on this.
Be it a 75 year old or whoever, the driver should not see another day out in the open for the rest of his life.

Road traffic accidents cost 3% GDP of India (which is more than India's Healthcare budget).

An eye-opening interview with a researcher in this field.

Some people just can't manage to drive without crashing, even on an empty road. Luckily for this 'hero', there was no one around.

Driver, after the accident, reminded me of Chahal in this year's World Cup.

Classic case of driving too fast on narrow KL back roads. As lessons go, this is the best possible one with no collateral damage, no injuries but a hefty repair bill. One hopes he'll learn but I wouldn't hold my breath...

Sir,
We are not aware of the surroundings from where the autorickshaw appeared (from below the screen). Hence it would be inappropriate to comment without understanding why the autorickshaw crashed in the Cement Pole. The footage of other side of road would have helped understand the reason behind this crash.

Self-righting auto? That's a neat trick!

The guy was lucky. The vehicle could have fallen over him. By the way, how did he even manage to roll over the vehicle? Is there a curve just behind the camera?

This is another accident of a car jumping the median. It happened in Navi Mumbai on 21st July as per a twitter post. I'm not sure what caused the car to lose control. The headlights are on and so it's difficult to see where the car came from in this CCTV footage.

The driver should be charged with culpable homicide which is a non-bailable offence. On a different note, I do not understand the reluctance of the bystanders to help the victims. It actually takes a good 30s before the man is helped and that too after he asks for it apparently. and a good 40s before the female who is lying motionless is attended to. You can actually see a few folks watching with reluctance without doing much. Our country really needs to work a lot on civic sense :-(

Another freak accident in Kerala. A young IAS officer suspected of drunk driving and killing a media personal.

Looking at the compound walls on both sides, this looks like a steep slope. The vehicle could be having a mechanical issue like a burst brake hose, or driver may be fool coasting down hill in neutral causing him to loose control.

There are almost no freak accidents on the roads. Even the word accident is an "accident" of language! All accidents are caused by someone.

Reminded me of the autorickshaw driver who had crashed into my Dzire (just six months old) last September. I was waiting for the signal to turn green at a signal on the Rao Tula Ram road which was congested as usual. Somehow, the autorickshaw, in Bollywood style, flew through the narrow gaps, brushing past a few cars and banged into my car from behind (slightly towards the left). As the impact pushed me forward, he managed to squeeze past me from left and crashed into another car. The driver came out of the autorickshaw and fainted on the road. The Oscar for the best actor goes to... clap:

Fortunately, I had my foot on the brake and could stop before crashing onto the car in front. Both my better half and I had our seat belts fastened so we came out unscathed. Wish I could say the same about my car. Left taillights, rear bumper and boot bore the burnt of the damage!

The culprit, meanwhile, got up and drove away.

What if a coconut falls on one's head as they walk by?

Saw this Kwid parked in front of the local police station. No idea about how it happened but I was in total shock to see the car crushed like this!! Would have been a total miracle if there were any survivors.
