re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Looks like even staying inside the confines of your home is not all that safe. Not sure when the indent took place.

Must say the corolla took the impact very well. The guy walks into the police van with very less damage.

It is a 4" outside wall. So not surprising that it gave way to a Corolla.

But the occupants are definitely lucky.

Is it for real? I don't really mind if it isn't: it makes a nice change to get a good laugh from this thread.

Yes you are right its a small roundabout. The driver must not have noticed it.

Wow. One of those bizarre accidents. To be able to mount this traffic island suggests they would have been doing decent speed. The windshield appears intact which may suggest two things;

1. Good build from Bharat Benz. A crash like this usually results in the windshield falling off

2. The driver and co driver were likely buckled up, else, they would have been thrown out front.

Did it happen at night? Not sure suitable reflectors were there. Also those posters might have contributed to lower visibility.

Lady driver, luckily no casualties! Seems to have hit a light pole in the divider at high speed. I am glad the crumple zones (whatever little are there) worked and saved the lady. Assuming she was belted up!

My Nano had a similar accident (Tata Nano Twist XT: 4-year ownership report) at slow speed on New Year's Eve, this will be a big hole on the pocket. The repair costs for my old car's damage were to the tune of around 40K at the service center, gladly the Insurance covered most of it and didn't burn a huge hole in the new owner's pockets.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

This happened in Shamirpet at Telangana this month.

A motorcycle rider using his mobile phone swerved to avoid another biker on the wrong side of the road and ends up crashing into a car driven erratically by a drunk driver. Both people on the bike were not wearing helmets. The drunk driver drove away without stopping.

The wrong-side biker, idiot as he may be, has very little to do with the incident.

The phone-wielding biker had plenty of space and time to take evasive measures, if he wasn't continuously distracted. I'm inclined to think he avoided the other biker owing to his peripheral vision, and didn't notice the oncoming car at all even though he had a clear line-of-sight.

Not saying the incident would've definitely been avoided, given the erratic car driver swerving into the opposite lane. Could've easily been a larger vehicle, with worse consequences (I hope they both survived).

Poor kid riding pillion unprotected, with an idiot not even watching the road.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

An alleged case of drunken driving in Bangalore in which a lady driver has rammed her car into a footpath.

Quoting from the article in TOI,
Quote:
The incident took place in BTM layout 2nd stage area of Bengaluru. Mico Layout Traffic Police have filed a case against the woman. The cases of drunken drive have increased in Bengaluru after liquor shops got opened amid lockdown 3.0.
Seems like the lockdown has resulted in more stupid minds than sane ones.

Literally everyone on that road is an idiot. Of course, one might say this is almost always true on Indian roads but this takes the cake!

Not sure what confirms the car driver was drunk? Was he caught afterwards? Yes, he drove a little crazily towards the crash and went away, but then that is a common stupid driving these days.
