Kerala has a strong fishing community with lot of water-bodies around. Looks like many fishermen were around this spot at that time. You can see the boats in the water. So no wonder they jumped quickly in this rescue operation. Also, being seaside, more number of people will be knowing swimming.

The people in the car were very lucky to be rescued. I wonder how the car landed up there in the sea though.

PS: Since this was Kerala, I also wonder if the rescuers were more eager to save the car from the clutches of the sea.

So now what category does the Polo come under? I am pretty sure the Polo is far better built than any of the competition. And the Germans are far ahead in engineering, who know how to use the sheet metal efficiently. Yet the damage is considerable. But does that affect the safety of the car? I dont think so. It is a well known fact that the Japs are pretty frugal with sheet metal. But when it comes to things like dissipation of impact energy or crumple zones, we can't do a judgements by looks. The energy put on a car during a crash has to be dissipated somewhere, and definitely can't be evaporated to thin air by magic. So if we want the fascia to be retained better by a rigid front, the energy will go elsewhere, which is plain physics.

This is a CCTV coverage of an accident in Kerala.

So many errors seen which ends with onlookers potentially disabling the biker if he had had a spinal injury.

Well, the new Indian Amaze has been crash tested on Global NCAP and has got a 4 star rating. It is no longer based on the flimsy Brio platform unlike the earlier Amaze. The new Amaze is built pretty good. on a new robust platform.

That rating was for the India-made but Africa-spec Amaze. It holds no relevance for our market.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter after the vehicle he was in while being transported met with an accident.

It appears that the vehicle overturned on a slippery road. I have no idea of the speed at which the incident happened or if there was a scuffle that happened in the vehicle that caused the accident.
Posting the aftermath to discuss the accident aspect of this incident only. Please refrain from discussing theories beyond the accident.

My 'guess' is that this was similar to the Bolero accident shared a little earlier on this thread and the vehicle veered off the road, flipped to its side. If its raining, we have the issue of loss of traction, poor visibility and a small mistake can prove costly. The lack of ESP will make things worse for these high set ladder frame cars since once there is a sudden steering move to correct a mistake, the venter of gravity which is high will drag the car in the direction of its inertia and make the rest of the driver actions useless.

Yes. That's correct. I even wrote to Honda on getting clarification on this. Read my update here: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/road-...ml#post4765145 (Global NCAP: India-made Maruti Ignis & Honda Amaze crash tested)

What's shocking is how they pulled the vehicle with a crane instead of turning on its wheels first or get a flat bed. The police are behaved as if the vehicle be sent to scrap yard. Also spoiling the roads in the process.

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force claims that a herd of cattle came in front of the car and to avoid hitting them the car overturned.
This further highlights the need for a dashcam, as then there would no speculation over the cause of the accident.

Pics: Accidents in India

A Car will topple only after a certain speed. And when the Car topples, it'll skid at least a couple of metres, before it either hits any obstacle or stop on its own.

But, here there seems nothing like that. No skid marks at all.
