Yes the cyclist is also saved. He can be seen running away in shock.

PS. Wonder why those frames are missing. Let me re-upload.

Even i am concerned about the cyclist, the motorcyclist head got saved by the helmet as well, even though he hadn't fastened the belt of the helmet. The bus driver did his best to save the motorcyclist.

Completely the fault of the car.
The truck was going in a straight line on its own lane and the Mercedes veered right and struck its front right side directly on the rear wheel of the truck and ripped its entire axle off.

And yet, the Mercedes has hardly deformed significantly, just crumpling to the extent required to absorb the impact. This is how a crumple zones of a car is supposed to work, well designated crumple zones around an extremely solid frame. Even the right door could be opened by the driver in the video.

Amazed by the way the Mercedes took the impact, if this is the level of safety it provides, the car is worth its high price.

In our market, cars with bad build quality are marketed off as cars with good crumple zone feature.

Unfortunately the truck driver faced the brunt for no fault of his, hope he was not injured.

The two lives lost were engaged and were to be married soon. What a sad way to depart.

Per reports, the driver was incapacitated due to low blood pressure and lost control of the bus.

In such scenarios where a huge damage takes place due to someone's error (here the biker), who pays for the entire damage. Will the insurance firm pay ? I am talking about not just the bus, but the fallen street post, damage to any roadside shops, hospitalization for the injured etc. Even if the bike's insurance pays out, what about instances caused by a careless pedestrian crossing the road resulting in mishaps similar to the above ?

I've only seen the photo (not the video - I block Facebook); but if that is any indication the bike's insurance company will not pay one paisa.

Technically damages to the street post, shops etc. all fall under third-party liability. If insurer doesn't pay the vehicle owner will have to.

The police investigation and the resultant court case determines who was at fault. Pedestrians are usually given a long rope but it's not that they aren't held accountable.

If a vehicle driver is found to have caused it, the insurance company and the owner are jointly made to pay the compensation for any third party damages (of course the third parties must claim damages in the court)

The insurance company can claim their share of compensation back from the owner if it can establish that the terms of the vehicle insurance contract had been violated, for e.g. if the driver was under influence, or was a minor and therefore not allowed to drive etc.

Of course, this is more of the theory part.

I was literally shaken when I saw those i20 elite images, there's no way the occupants in the front row survived the crash despite airbags being deployed. Very sad to see this.
