more than the accident, the report of some youth stealing his money and fleeing instead of helping him is what worrying me. Such a sad thing to hear.

If someone will drive CRAZY then this would be the outcome.

1. The car caught fire after the accident, the accident was not due to fire.

2. In high-speed collisions if the fuel tank is damaged then it will cause the leaking of highly inflammable fuel and even with a single spark from outside the car will catch fire.

3. From the pics it is very clear the car was at very high speed, it destroyed the collision bar and divider completely for 200 meters and there are many chances that the spark for the fire breakout was from here only.

And the pant is very fine now without a single fracture and major injuries , this indicates the build quality of germans like Mercedes. This car is Amg GLE Coupe I guess. If the car was from some other brand then who knows what would have happened.

It looks like Pant doozed off behind the wheel.
Saw videos of him being stable and conscious just after the accident, few bruises and scratches, nothing serious.

Lucky for him and others that there was no impact with other vehicles.

Sharing only the CCTV clip of the accident, looks scary.

I'd say it's best to avoid travelling between 12 to 6 am, this the time when sleep gets better of us.

Media Statement – Rishabh Pant

India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant met with a car accident early on Friday morning near Roorkee, Uttarakhand. He was admitted to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre where he was treated for impact injuries.

Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment.

The BCCI is in constant touch with Rishabh’s family while the Medical Team is in close contact with the doctors currently treating Rishabh. The Board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase.

I have driven several times in the night (more out of compulsion). Just sharing few tips which I follow, which may be repetitive.
a. I have a couple of mild coffee drinks (can/tetrapack) in my car. It is taken much before sleep sets in and actually when I think I dont need it (say 11 pm).
b. The next one is taken if required after a gap of 2-3 hours and again before actually feeling sleepy.
c. No use of having any such drink after feeling sleepy. If so, only option is to stop at the nearest place and take rest.
d. I don't have rice while driving. Even for other meals, I fill only half stomach.
Of course, the better course of action is to avoid night driving. A moment's failure can become a monumental disaster.

Glad that Pant is recovering, which is a miracle considering the state of vehicle.

I understand the urgency in the Celebs' schedule that they have to travel the perilous 12 am to 4 am timeperiod , but wonder why they insist driving themselves despite their obviously tiring routine endangering not only their lives but of others.

They probably think it would be fun to drive alone or may be due to their inflated ego that they think they are invulnerable of any tiredness like mortals and can control the car regardless of their physical exhaustion.

I wish they'd become sensible and hire personal drivers which will not only increase their safety but also of others.

The celebs are as entitled as us to drive on their own. Them driving is statistically insignificant in causing accidents that I feel criticising them for that is unfair.

Well, they're also human beings and some of them may be fond of driving so no harm in driving. He wanted to surprise his mother. As far as taking a driver is concerned, he can also doze off. I never prefer a driver for my highway runs. But driving or taking a driver at such time can be dangerous.

Yes, of course! our member Hayek offers sound, down-to-earth advice a few posts back. It is addressed to us all, not just celebrities.

The only difference celebrity makes is the media (and T-BHP) coverage.

Pant was driving tired, in low visibility conditions and
probably around 150k/h. He was lucky to survive with minor injuries and not collecting anyone else.

Taxi or truck drivers are forced to do a lot of things for survival. I really don't think it's for fun or the thrills. Doesn't make it right but really not equivalent to celebs not choosing to be chauffer driven when they can afford it.

Although not sure what happened here, won't jump to any conclusions.

Source? If true then that's insane. Driving at 150 ish is in itself insane to start, add to that night driving and poor visibility

Drive responsibly, always keep the speed under check, especially while driving in two lane roads. Our roads are totally unpredictable. Never use mobile phones while driving, pair it with Bluetooth and attend calls, until and unless it is very necessary.
