Looks like driver was able to survive, mostly because his side didn't take much impact.
This accident happened on Tuesday morning (21-Mar) near Sarjapura, Bangalore. I passed by the spot a few moments after it had happened. It appeared to me that the car had somehow jumped the divider and hit the truck travelling in the opposite direction.

I did not stop as there was already a sizeable crowd gathered there, and did not want to add to the chaos.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I don't think I have ever seen anything like this before.

A person saved his friend just in time. 0.25x speed shows how close it was.

The first minute of the video may be skipped.

Whoa! what a save! I guess there are two kinds of people - those who freeze when exposed to sudden danger, and those who have lightning quick reflexes to get out of the way. Thankfully for him, his friend was of the latter type.

Watched the video a second time, and I couldn't help noticing - Two people walking side-by side on a busy road, no attempt to get onto the shoulder. The second dude was almost in the middle of the left lane!

WOW! Amazing reflexes and presence of mind to save others before self. Imagine just grateful he would be. But someone needs to tell them not to walk on the road like that.

Looks like they are also the cause of accident, the blue tractor cut before the other tractor, which had to brake ànd caused jackknife position and tripped.

There is no question that the Wagon-R is completely at fault for the rear ending.

Generally I've observed that on a long stretch of straight road with sparse traffic, if the vehicle in front stops for whatever valid reason, there is a high possibility of being rear-ended by the driver behind.
The reason is lower attention levels of the trailing driver and wrong assumption that the driver ahead will not stop given the straight road and sparse traffic.

In such situations, it is always a good defensive practice to honk in case there is a need to stop on the road to alert the potential non-attentive driver behind.

In such scenarios, I switch on the hazard signal as soon as "practically " possible, this saved my (car's) rear many a times.

That's a really dangerous way to walk occupying a lot of road. On the first watch I thought the tractor will hit them from behind but it just passes them within an inch. There was lot of sidewalk for them to walk safely. Anyways Kudos to his friend for saving his life. Extremely quick reflexes and situational awareness. Most people will freeze out of fear.

When I was watching this video for the first time and these two gentleman appeared jaywalking on a busy road, I thought that one of them will be flying soon. This is what usually happens in these accident videos. Fortunately, destiny had something else stored for them.

Adding to the above - Kerala has a rather high density of human as well as vehicle populations.

Our house in Kerala was one of the first in the locality to have CCTV cameras, and our footages have helped cops in investigating two incidents - one of a break-in at a shop and another one a hit and run. Now there are many houses that have installed CCTV cameras, and at least one camera would clearly capture the road in front. When we were renovating our house a few years ago, the cops proactively gave us some suggestions on the camera locations.

You know what, I did honk, like a lot. I am a big time horn user. Not to irritate people/bully other vehicles but just short courtesy honks to remind people and animals that they are not invincible. The dashcam audio is muted that's why you couldn't catch it. I honked to try getting the buffaloes out of the way as well as to alert the other idiots on the road. He still rear ended me, 100% sure he was on his phone, you can clearly see that in the rear dashcam video I've posted.

Another accident near Rishabh pants's accident site. Clearly, our society is not prepared for high speed highways.

Overtaking without having a clear view of the road ahead is the major cause of such accidents.

Please note: I hate these extra sound effects added to such videos. Over-sensationalising the accident unnecessarily.

Hosur TITAN Watches Dharga Mariamman temple stop, it's at the end of a big down hill ramp.

Received over WhatsApp, seems like it happened today, awaiting further details.

Must admire the quality of CCTV in this bus.

Hazard may work, but it's needs hand off steering, and hazard flicker interval is long.

I find it quicker to tap on the brake pedal few times. A habit from pre abs days, which would make the brake lights flash/flicker. Flashing lights grab attention sooner than solid red brake lights.

Horns are facing forward, so not sure how far behind they can be heard. Everyone is honking, I don't want to add to it.

This had almost every spice in the recipe for disaster:
Approaching the intersection/divide in median too fast.
Overtaking without any caution.
Overtaking from wrong side.
Heavy vehicle on fast lane (the bus)
Slow tractor trolly ( technically not road legal) on road.
A Force people mover on wrong side stationary.

This is a route I frequently take. During day time, there is no visible sense of road discipline. Locals, two wheelers don't know difference between city lanes and highways.
