Not just that. You'll also aquaplane towards the divider. The driver is a passenger when a vehicle aquaplanes.

The reason the Octavia survived was because he was on the middle lane.

The Bus Dashcams are turning out to save the jobs and honor of bus drivers. Without this footage, any unsuspecting viewer would point their finger first at a private bus driver. At least with this footage the bus wont rot in a police yard for accident vehicles.

Wonder what the Toyota Innova driver was doing. I am suspecting more of sleep theory.

Just a food for thought, If the truck would have been in the left lane/Slow lane (where he should be in ideal scenario), this accident could not have been this nasty. Also seems, none of the driver took evasive action, may be the reaction time was to less.

RIP the poor souls.

Very unlikely. It wasn't a long trip as such and it looks to be only about 2 hours drive from the place they started, as per reports, until the accident. And with a truck load of passengers in the car probably a few of them awake, very unlikely he could go to sleep. Looks like a case of losing control on a curve due to over load or distracted on phone.

"If the car did not even venture out, they all would have been still living. If the.." The if's can go on sir..

Not sure what are you trying to say? If it was not the truck, it could have been something else. It is good that it wasn't another car in which case those innocent people would have been killed as well.

The Innova driver underestimated the curve, took it at high speed, and understeered. He tried to correct the course but by then bus was taking evasive action and moved to the middle lane. This is what I could make out from the footage.

Lets not mix completely unrelated things, just because we are taken over by feelings.
I am not blaming the driver at all. I am blaming the circumstances and the huge divide that still exists in the society today. And while we are all adults, a child had to lose its life because of us. I think we really need to look in.

Something I witnessed en route to Asan Bani in Jharkhand. Luckily no one got hurt barring the Aura. The location must be around Lodhasuli..

Well Sir, what I'm trying to Say is, accidents are a sequence of events happeneing and this might not be the root cause of the event, but definitely its the contributing factor.

There's a term in forensic investigation, "Precursor Incident", Major incident that could have been averted, if one or more unsafe act/condition didn't happen. And in this case, the truck wasn't supposed to be where it was, clearly an unsafe act.

Chronology of accidents happening is - Unsafe conditions - Unsafe acts - Near misses -Minor Injuries - Major injuries, which in general form a pyramid pattern, with unsafe conditions at the bottom.

Sometimes luck is the last safegurad that can save someone's life. However, I agree with you, There can be many If's and But's.

There are legitimate reasons why the truck could be where it was - for example, maybe it was overtaking some other vehicle?

The clear unsafe condition is that the car had no business to be where it was. Another clear unsafe condition is that the car had 6 occupants. One needn't be a forensic investigator to understand this.

I am wondering if he even saw the tanker! It would be madness to pull out in front of it and expect it to give way in such a short distance.

The Aura driver learnt a valuable lesson albeit the hard way. Sadly this behaviour is very common
  • Not checking rear view mirror.
  • Initiate lane change and then turn on indicator for the sake of it.
  • Expect the driver in the other lane to accommodate lane change. Two wheelers are always ridden like this (apologies for generalizing)

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

This incident took place at Chembur, Mumbai, where the parking stack collapsed killing a man who was cleaning a car. A heavy SUV was parked at the upper level.

To avoid such mishaps we need to ensure that our car weight is as per the allowed weight in car stacks. As a further precaution, heavier cars must not be at the upper levels and noone must be allowed to wash/clean the cars while on the stack. Most people out of ignorance/lack of knowledge break rules and such tragedies occur.

No.
To avoid such mishaps, the design and manufacturing of car stacks must be done by proper engineering firms, not welding workshops. When the tender for such structures are floated, the cheapest vendor wins contracts by quoting X, out of which 0.6X goes as bribes/kickbacks and out of the remaining 0.4X that comes in hand, 0.3X is his pofit share and 0.1X is his 'project cost'.

Looks like the sudden appearance of the police barricade for the Aura driver too played spoilsport.
