Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Very unfortunate incident and the driver didn't even recognise the incident and left the scene. And even more tragedy is he has to face punishment and the loss of his daughter for the rest of his life. RIP kiddo

In the USA one can land in jail for overtaking a stationary school bus.
This is a standard rule of law across all states, only the penalization can vary.
But in my society I see cars routinely crossing school bus loading and unloading kids. No sense of safety for kids, whatsoever.
The reason is who is going to stop them?
Unless there’s a gruesome mishap (God forbid) we Indians don’t wake up.

On the father-daughter accident, how come the father didn’t realise hitting the child and running over her? I mean, as a driver, one would notice even a slight jerk/thump/bump or any unusual noise, right?

A few years back I was on a short business visit to Germany and I was translating German text from one of the boards I found roadside. Interestingly, it was about overtaking school buses when they are stopped and Google translated one of those German words to 'as slow as not moving'. I always remember that whenever I see a stopped school bus.

Oh God! Are they for real; I mean, when you look at the ways and means accidents happen these days, it looks like we are not safe on any roads at all. I guess, the famous quote in most languages which goes like "Ghar May Bhol Ke Aaya Hain Kya" sounds so surreal now. With time available for reaction or not, many of us are sitting ducks on the roads/streets/highways and scary is no longer the grave phrase to describe our emotions. It just looks coming straight out of Final Destination movie and the punch line "You can't cheat death". I'll never run out of phrases to express my shock or surprise both at the same time. To put it ironically, the funniest part is that none of our election manifestos include road safety, life, and strengthening laws for preventing careless/reckless driving behavior as one of an important point.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Actor Pankaj Tripathi 's brother in law Rajesh Tiwari and sister Sabita were involved in a road accident on 20.04.24 (Sunday) at Nirsa Chowk, Dhanbad city, while driving from Kamalpur in Gopalganj , Bihar to near Kolkata (Chittaranjan) in a Maruti Swift. They were taken to the hospital where Rajesh Tiwari died, while Sabita Tiwari was seriously injured, and shifted to the ICU of the same hospital. This video was shared on X by Samachar Plus, Jharkhand.

The car was moving at a high speed through the Grand Trunk Road (N.H. 2) that passed through Dhanbad city, and hit a road divider after it went out of control. No other motor vehicle was involved in the collision.

The Jeep was so slow to brake taking his own sweet time. You should react to a car braking in front of you. Seems like Jeep driver was not paying attention.

Captured this on my dashcam while coming back to Bangalore on NH44 on Sunday. Not quite sure how the first swerve happened, but after that, there was no coming back for the mini truck driver. Multiple swerves and then fell on the divider.
The driver jumped out of the truck immediately and was calling locals to help put the truck back on it's wheels so I don't think any major injuries.

Goes to show how high the CG of these vehicles are and how important it is to have a steady hand on the steering.
Looks like a goods vehicle version of a tank slapper

Damn these crazy drivers. What the hell was the Innova trying to do? A double overtake on a blind curve?? We are at the mercy of such idiots. I pity the car that was hit so badly.

So unfortunate. I’ve read so many such instances before as well and I follow one rule:
No kid gets out of the car till I remove the keys and I (or driver) gets out. Even if it means parking in tight spots or dropping adults somewhere before I get to park the car.

I check the video and the person who is claimed to be “accidentally” running over a kid is seen driving away, fled the scene.
This may have been accidental as careless driving but fleeing the scene is not accidental but purposeful.

This cannot be ignored. In addition to unsafe parking on highway the truck driver must be booked for not having protection beam on the rear.

I was thinking the same. I feel sorry for the father. Poor man is going to be a prisoner of his mind for a long-long time. He is going to replay this incident in his mind on a daily basis for many years and will likely need a concoction of anti-depressants to function Ofcourse depends on personality, but such an accident is tough to get over for most...

He is not "fleeing" the scene, as per reports he went to park the car at its designated parking lot.
