The road has double solid lines meaning no lane changes!! But who is aware and even if aware, who cares?

I was under the impression that from 2017 onwards all new two wheelers in India also require Automatic Headlights On feature to keep the headlights on even during daytime. Is this withdrawn now?

Nope. It's not withdrawn. It's same in India too.

I assume its DRL or AHO (automatic headlamp ON) for the new vehicle currently. I've got an xPulse 200 Pro last year and it has only DRL, no AHO

I am not sure if it's DRL or AHO. Does your new Motorcycle come with a headlight ON/OFF switch? Can you switch off the headlight in day time?

Yes, it has the headlight on/off switch. DRL is something that always remains ON.

Nevertheless, the white Liva driver could have done a bit of defensive driving to avoid the accident, I think.
Yes, we should avoid going between vehicles to maintain crash avoidance space on the sides.

Yes, while changing lanes infront of heavy vehicles, we need to see the headlights of the heavy vehicle in our IRVM as its the safe distance. The driver changed early.

Unfortunately, lines and lights don't stop people. Either they should have driver education or fear or crashing and Indian drivers suffer from optimism bias that they're invincible.

Accident that happened in Kerala last weekend. The bus was being driven aggressively. Nevertheless, the white Liva driver could have done a bit of defensive driving to avoid the accident, I think.
Sitting in Dubai I am pressed to say the bus driver is not at fault, he was 100% well within his lane, he ensured his left wheel did not touch the oncoming lane.

Even if the Liva driver was no in this frame, that KSRTC would have tried to overtake the auto, that accident was bound to happen.

Found this news in today's The Hindu newspaper, Bangalore edition.

Don't understand how the bus got hit from front and back. One lorry might have been going the wrong way (downhill)?!

Looks to be a case of Lorry jumping the median and hitting the bus. Then the bus got turned 180 degrees on impact and was hit again by a lorry coming behind.

These big lorries on a down slope with their momentum due to load are dangerous. Mogili ghat is turning out to be a mini Toppur ghat

A static graphical illustration is given in the post below.

I don't understand this accident.

Why is the woman walking casually in the middle of the road with heavy traffic?

Shouldn't she be looking behind to see if any vehicle is coming from behind?

Shouldn't the driver honked and stopped instead of ploughing through her?

The woman shouldn't be there in the first place. It's not pedestrian crossing point. Shouldn't she taken a safer route and not jaywalked in the middle of the road?

So many things are wrong here. How can this happen?

That's what I was thinking, totally preventable one.

Exactly my thoughts here. Why this accident happened? There are other pedestrians also in the middle of the junction. something fundamentally wrong here.

Re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

An avoidable crash. Pedestrians and kids are the most vulnerable on our dangerous roads.
